This movie is based on the true story of Ron Kovic. Kovic, played here by Tom Cruise, is a man who dreamed of becoming a Marine. Wounded in Vietnam, he ends up becoming one of the leading lights of the anti-war movement. The movie won several Oscars, including a Best Director for Oliver Stone (himself a Vietnam veteran).
