TV Sucks Now Articles

The articles on Retrojunk that annoy me the most.

Okay, I haven't been on this site for a full year, but let me tell you that I HAVE HAD ENOUGH of the "TV Sucks Now" articles. The saying "Cartoons Suck Now" was probably around since our grandparents, saying stuff like "I'm sick of Yogi Bear, I want Looney Tunes again." They probably didn't say that, but it's possible. But the articles don't always talk about TV, they can talk about video games, movies, or even life itself, which is why I usually call these kind of articles as "Life Sucks Now" articles, but that's not my point, my point is that we get a lot of these articles, like Disney Go Bye Bye, TV Sucks Now, Cartoon Network's Got Issues, The Best and Worst of times, The Elusive R - Rating, Times have Changed.....Too Much, Is Cartoon Network Rubbish, The Day Cartoon Network Died, Nickelodeon The Good Days, Cartoon Network Too, You Too Toon Disney, When Miracle Channels Go Bad, Toon Disney/Disney Bye Bye, Back in 19 Dickity-Two, Good Bad and Purple Dinos, and a lot more.

First, I'm going to talk about two members who I hate the most for making these kind of articles.

First, there was a member who was banned who wrote articles like "TV Sucks Now" and "Cartoon Network Too". Basically, his articles were either about Cartoon Network or Jetix, and uses no detail or anything, it just says "Jetix, get off Toon Disney" and that's it. This member was banned before I got his name.

Second, Copper20. Copper20's articles never did so good, but there was one article that was a success, "Cartoon Network's Got Issues", and the opening sentence pissed off me, Hiro, and Riddles-In-The-Middles.
Opening sentence: "Our generation was better, the new one sucks." Very misleading.
We're not all from the same generation Copper20, in fact, if you go to his profile, it says that he was born in 1992, and most of the people here were born in the 80s, I wasn't but I know most of you were. Next time think before you write. PS: That picture is one of Copper20's avatars.

Now I'm going to talk about Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Toon Disney seperately and say some things about them.

First, Toon Disney. Toon Disney has been criticized ever since Jetix came on. Sure, Jetix did basically ruin Toon Disney for the fact that it runs for 14 hours on the weekdays and 17 hours on the weekends (as of November 2007), and their only original shows that I like are "Yin Yang Yo" and "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go", but it's not completely terrible. After all, it's the only station that decided to bring back "Superman: The Animated Series", "Batman: The Animated Series", and "Pinky and the Brain". Sure, none of them are related to Disney in any way, but I still respect them for bringing them back.

Taken from article "You Too Toon Disney":"I somehow doubt it, as if they were they'd be shoved in my face by now by Jetix fans.. Oh who am I kidding, Jetix fans don't exist." Not true.

Jetix fans DO exist, you just don't know anybody who likes it. Just so you know, me and my brother actually sometimes watch Jetix and we have no problem with it. I'm mad that it takes up the majority of Toon Disney, but I'm not saying it sucks.

Second, Cartoon Network. I must admit that it's whacko that Cartoon Network is airing live action, as well as having a live action series called "Out Of Jimmy's Head", which, IMO, is the worst CN show ever, but the network isn't completely terrible, they still have Ed Edd n Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Ben 10 and Fosters, heck, I would even call Camp Lazlo decent. I know that live action isn't right for Cartoon Network but I don't have to write an entire article about it saying that it sucks.
I should also mention Adult Swim. Adult Swim is a pretty good block, and a lot of people on this site only watch Cartoon Network for Adult Swim now, but has it ever ocurred to you that Adult Swim also has bad shows like Saul of the Mole Men? Yes, Adult Swim is good, but the "Other than Adult Swim, Cartoon Network is complete crap." comment pisses me off. In fact, one comment from an article shows on how much this guy hates Adult Swim.

Taken from a comment from the article "There's Nothing Good on TV": Adult Swim is not good under any circumstance. It's basically a black mark on Cartoon Network in my eyes. If you really want to be entertained with pervert humor, go to the adult store or something. Stay off a network that's way better suited for kids. Besides, do you not think kids still tune in on CN at night sometimes? Only to find sex, swearing, and perversion? Cartoon Network lost it's fun and eventually died in my eyes when they started airing perverted shows like Family Guy.
Last but not least, Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon is probably the most criticized of the networks, and I'm getting sick of it. All we hear is "Nickelodeon sucks" this, and "Nickelodeon sucks" that, we get the point, you don't have to keep reminding us. In fact, as of November 2007, an article saying that Nickelodeon sucks now has the highest rating on this site, but I think that there are other articles that are more deserving for the highest rating. I don't know when the biggest criticism for Nickelodeon started, maybe when they started Spongebob, or maybe when they started the Nicktoons, but what I do know is that it's annoying.

Now I would like to talk about Retrojunk itself. Lots of members on Retrojunk think that the 90s is pretty much the best decade ever (including me), but there are other members (i.e. Childofthe1970s and Ducktalesfan1977) who think otherwise. There's one answer to this: different generations. Every generation has different interests, that's what the Retrojunk member Hiro has been telling all of us, and making "TV Sucks Now"/"Life Sucks Now" articles don't get you anywhere. This comment made by Riddles-In-The-Middles in the article Cartoon Network's Got Issues actually has a good point. Here's the comment:

No! Your generations are NOT any better then today's! Your generations had the AIDS the epidemic and other dangerous pandemics, crack babies, the rise of popularity in cocaine and other illegal drugs, came very close to a nuclear war happening, and plenty other things I could list off. There was just as much 'crappy' cartoons back in your generations too! Stop thinking that your generations were all so perfect and dandy, because they weren't just like today's! Very good point.

People fail to realise that there were just as many bad shows in the 70s, 80s, and 90s as there are today, you can't just say "If it's old, it's awesome, and if it's new, it sucks.", because that's completely unfair. If this site was made in the 90s, the "TV Sucks Now" articles would say stuff like "I miss You Can't Do That On Television, now we have crap like Ren and Stimpy." or "I like the old Donald Duck cartoons, but now, Quack Pack? WTF?", and looking at members like Ducktalesfan1977, they'd probably say things like that. They would probably also say "The Simpsons doesn't belong here, it's not retro." since The Simpsons were very popular back then.

Also, 10 years from now, there would be a bunch of people on this site who grew up in the 2000s, saying stuff like "Disney, please bring back American Dragon: Jake Long." or "I miss Spongebob Squarepants, too bad Nick went down the drain." and the "TV Sucks Now" articles would say that they hate cartoons from the 2010s, which would still drive me crazy.

Also, for the banned Retrojunk member who I mentioned earlier, the one who rants about Cartoon Network and Jetix without any detail, I would like to say something to that guy.
YOU'RE DUMB,
YOUR FRIENDS ARE DUMB,
YOUR FAMILY'S DUMB,
YOUR STUPID PETS WILL BE SKINNED ALIVE,
YOUR MOM'S A MORON,
YOU SUCK AT LIFE,
THE WHOLE WORLD HATES YOU,
YOU'RE GOING TO HELL,
LIVE WITH IT.

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes, I took that from the Angry Video Game Nerd, just deal with it.

For the people who make the "TV Sucks Now"/"Life Sucks Now" articles, please don't write another article saying that cartoons suck, if you want to write a comment on a TV show saying that, that's okay, just don't write an article. The only "TV Sucks Now" article that I like is Dalmatianlover's "There's Nothing Good on TV", because the opening paragraph said this:

I'm sure there were plenty of people in their late teens or early 20's who hated the shows we loved to watch back in the 90's. Exactly.

This sentence was the reason why I gave the article a thumbs up, there were a lot of people in their late teens or early 20s who hated the shows that we loved in the 90s, and members like childofthe1970s and Ducktalesfan1977 make that a complete fact. That's what I'm talking about (and Hiro), we're all part of different generations, and we all don't like the same things.

This article might be sent to the back page since it was completely pointless, but I just wanted to release my rage for all of these "TV Sucks Now" articles. I have one more thing to say: These kids channels only suck because you outgrew them, and if you're 25 years old and don't have kids, then you have no reason to bash these shows, they're for 8 year old kids, not 20 year old nostalgia infested adults. Here's a good idea; turn off Nickelodeon, and go watch Seinfeld.
