Government employees Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) and Lillian Reynolds (Louise Fletcher) have created a new technology that allows experiences to be recorded so that people can have the opportunity to get into other people's heads, if you will. Some people use it for fun, others use it for sex, while Michael wants to use it to get closer to his wife Karen (Natalie Wood, in her final movie), but when the government decides to utilize the device for more dangerous needs, Michael has to put everything on the line to make things right.
