The Prisoner was a groundbreaking series in the UK in the 1960's.

The show inspired many filmmakers including the creators of Lost.
Christopher Nolan has also been wanting to do a film version.




McGoohan had actually turned down the role of James Bond due to moral differences. As a married man, he objected to kissing other women- now that's a gentleman.

Before he became Number Six, he was a secret agent for the British Government.

His last whereabouts were Britain- his flat, before being knocked out by sleeping gas.

Imagine a utopia as if run by Willy Wonka. Everyone has a number, everyone knows each other, and everyone is happy.

The monster a.k.a. "The Rover," is a roaring menace that pins down potential escapees.

Production used a weather balloon on a cable, but it still looks cool, especially when emerging from water.

Is it a dream? Is he insane? Has he always lived in the Village? Is escape possible?
And above all... who is Number One?

The Prisoner is my favorite television show of all time.

Each episode, Number Two tries either to assimilate Number Six or break him down with experimental mind tricks.

AMC made a remake a couple years ago

The initial episodes of the remake are weak but it builds momentum and creates a pretty awesome ending. Overall, definitely worth your time.

But by far, the original The Prisoner is one of the most surreal and well written series ever broadcast on television
