The stable wormhole discovered by the Deep Space Nine crew is known to the Bajoran people as the Celestial Temple of their Prophets. Sisko, as discoverer of the wormhole and its inhabitants, is therefore the Emissary of Bajoran prophesy. The wormhole's other end is in the Gamma Quadrant, halfway around the galaxy from Bajor. That section of space is dominated by the malevolent Dominion. The Dominion is led by the Changelings, the race of shapeshifters to which Odo belongs. As of the beginning of the sixth season, Cardassia has joined the Dominion, and together they are waging war on the Federation and their Klingon allies. The war is quickly becoming the most costly war ever for the Federation, and the Deep Space Nine crew must fight to protect their way of life.

My favorite of the Star Trek's . . . Overall, the best planned, written and portrayed characters and plots of all the Star Trek series.

Some of the holodeck crap in the final seasons left a lot to be desired (Vic Fontaine) though a few episodes were . . . amusing . . . and I did not like the ending as it was too abrupt and eerily odd how so many of the primary characters ~"*poof*"~ were moved into such high and prolific positions away from DS9 in the finally that made any movie or reunion show implausible . . .

Regardless, I enjoyed the series and was entertained throughout each and every season!

DS9 is without a doubt the best trek series so far.

I don't know what you are talking about with no action. Did you miss the entire final season? Does the Dominion War ring a bell? Deep Space Nine was probably my favorite out of all the Star Treks.

^Exactly! This was a soap opera! Gotta find out who Warf is marrying, who Sisco is dating. Argh! This show angered me! How could they turn an adventure series into a nearly immobilized soap opera! I only recall a few interesting episodes, and that's not saying much. This show didn't really have "episodes," they had a continuing story line that spanned over a series of shows. Very sad plot! No disrespect to the actors, but shame on the writers and director.

A very good show. It had some great writing especially after the 2nd season.
