My N64 Memories
On
July 11, 2011
It has been a long time since I have written something for this site. To anyone who read my last article "Evil Dead and My Life!" I am back and hope to write more articles more often. This time I have decided to go a different route. I have decided to discuss my experiences with the infamous Nintendo 64. This beautiful console was the first console that was completely mine. I will do my best with this article to bring you back to a time where I played for hours on end with my favorite console and I will give you a quick look into my experiences with it. So sit back, relax, put on your nostalgic glasses, and enjoy as we travel back in time!

"This is Heavy"

Part 1: Video Games before Nintendo 64

When I was very young I can clearly remember playing and watching some of the original sonic games. I had a blast with those and i discovered that I was born to be a gamer.

I loved to play these games and throughout the 90's what I played began to change and I can remember the day when I got my Gameboy Color! Aah what a glorious day that was and I remember playing several games on it including Pokemon. Man would I play that game for hours!

I played Pokemon for years until the console that was truly mine came into my grasp!

PART 2: The Nintendo 64

I remember being surprised when my father came home after going to the store with my new N64 and my first game "Pokemon Snap". My uncle helped my father set it up and then I sat in front of the tv and started playing.

I had a blast playing pokemon snap and very soon several other games came my way. They included:

Army Men Sarge's Heroes 1 and 2: These were my first T rated games and I loved that! I also loved the idea of playing as toy soldiers! It was violent and funny and I had a blast playing them!

Rugrats Scavenger Hunt: This game is often forgotten and it is a sort of board game in video game form which threw me off when I first played it and this was my least played game that I owned.
Donkey Kong 64: This game was great and I remember being frustrated by it. It was very challenging!

Hot Wheels Turbo Racing: I used to play this all of the time and I loved the creative courses and fast racing.

Lego Racers: Like hot wheels I loved the designs of all the tracks but this game had all of the charm and humor found in Legos.

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer: The movie might not be that great but the game was fun as hell. I always chose Anakin when I played it and it was fast paced and a lot of fun.

and

Super Smash Brothers: This game was my first fighting game and I always played Link. He was my go to guy because of his awesome sword!

I loved to play all of these games. I would play alone since I am an only child but i also had friends who loved to play with me. I remember playing with one of my friends (we are still friends) "Hot Wheels" and we would get competitive but it was all in good fun and nobody threw any controllers. I would also have friends play "Super Smash Brothers", "Lego Racers" and "Episode 1 Racer". We would play for hours on end and we would have a blast. We didn't care about graphics or anything as long as it was fun and it was. When I read most N64 articles on here they often mention The Legend of Zelda GoldenEye, and Super Mario 64. I actually never owned any of these. I played all three of these games and I loved them but I never owned them. I played them at my friends houses. Now going back and playing them on my computer I realize what I was missing. I actually have really fond memories of GoldenEye in particular.

I vividly remember playing all of these games and I get nostalgic when I see something about them.

Part 3: The End of an Era

I kept playing all the way up until I got my Gamecube in 2002 and my PS2 in 2004. After that for some reason I stopped playing and i honestly don't know why. I was too young to really appreciate everything at the time. I am lucky to have grown up during the awesome time of the 90's and the early 2000's.

Part 4: What the N64 meant to me

The N64 was an integral part of my childhood. It was and still is my favorite console. It represented a time in my life in which I was young and carefree. I didn't have to worry nearly as much and I had more fun. It was probably the best time of my life and I still harbor nostalgic feelings towards this console and this time. I hope that you all had a similar experience with this console. This site has brought up so many nostalgic feelings and I am grateful to the creators of this site because we as readers and authors get to share with others our memories.

Part 5: Conclusion

Thank you very much for reading! I hope that you enjoyed reading this article as much as I did in writing it. Since this little nostalgic journey is over I think it is time for all of us to go Back to The Future!
