Back when I was in high school there supposedly was an incident where two girls started playing with an improvised quija board in the bathroom anf all of a sudden the door shut down and it wouldn't open and they heard what sounded like an 'ëvil child' laughter. I don;t know if that ever happened but I do remember people talking about it at the time.

And that is why you should never "play" with a ouija board unless you know exactly how to work with it. Plus sending the ghosts back to where they belong.

I had one back in middle school, but it never did what it was "supposed" to do. My friends and I messed around with it for a few days, but I finally gave up and threw it away.

My sisters both used one back when they were just graduating highschool/about to start college. It said that my one sister would have 4 boys in a row then leave her husband. My other sister it said would have one girl then many years later have more children... and the thing was right.

Someone I know made one in shop class in High School. She told me that after being used a few times, the pointer disappeared from a drawer and she decided that meant it wished to be "retired". (she still has it as decor in her apt.)

The first time I tried was a new years party in the 5th grade. We supposedly contacted a guy who died the week before or something. But what freaked me out was a couple days after, I got a book of scary stories that had a tale of 3 kids messing with a Ouija Board and had the same names as my friends and I.

And there's a semi-famous account of the Mars Volta using one around the time of the Bedlam album and it basically cursed the recordings. Wikipedia it.

For real, I don't f*ck around with those things. I'm not the most supersticious person, I usually find logic in most things, but there is something not right with Ouija boards.

I have heard stories about it, some have said that knifes or forks or something like that flew across the air and tried to hit them and that the board was thrown into a fire and the fire pit exploded! these things are nothing to mess around with.....

                            this is from a website

                            Ouija Board Testimony

I was eighteen years old. The summer was long and boring. One day I decided to purchase a Ouija Board. My friend and I attempted to work the board for about three days. Finally the wedge began to move from letter to letter. There were no clear messages for several days. My friend grew tired and fearful of the board. She decided not to play the game anymore. She would not touch the board again.

The garbled messages only peaked my curiosity. I attempted to move the play the game alone. The first day or two the wedge did not move. Finally, the wedge seemed to come alive moving from letter to letter. The messages were finally clear. The board told me that a spirit came to me through the board. The spirit said it was to be a friend who was to protect me from the dangers in life. It would guide me to a better life because it knew the future.

I spent all my free time with the board. The spirit told me that it loved me and I should let it direct the activities of my life so that my future would be secure and happy. We discussed life and love through the board. It kept promising happiness and security if I would listen and do what it said.

This continued all summer and then it was time to go to college as I planned. I took the Ouija Board with me to school. I spent all my free time with the board and found it cumbersome. I had roommates and it looked weird for me to work the board alone. The spirit suggested through the board that it use my hand for automatic handwriting. I tried that but all I could get was the figure "8" drawn over and over again. I spent all my time tying to get messages. Of course, there was no time for study--I failed out of college. I returned home pale, tired and nervous. I kept communicating with the spirit through the board for the remainder of the year.

                            Year Two

The spirit suggested through the board that I attempt to let it use my voice. The automatic handwriting did not work since I could only manage to get "8" on a paper. I thought I would try that so I just permitted the spirit to speak through me. I let it use my voice and words started to form. At first gibberish then other words. It would use my voice when I was alone.

During this time I worked at a full-time job. I was not very good at the job because my concentration was bad. The spirit kept wanting my attention--my tapping my finger--attempting to make letters with the movement of my finger. I could keep the spirit from using my voice and the finger movements if I concentrated but it detracted from my concentration.

                            Year Three

One day the spirit was using my voice--curses and obscenities were being spoken. The cursing and obscenities were about Jesus Christ. I was in shock that these words were coming from my voice. It told me to kill myself. I could feel hatred that I never felt before. This made me step back and look at myself. What kind of spirit was this? What had I done?

I finally took a good look at myself in the mirror. I was pale, tired and nervous. I wanted the spirit to leave. It would not go. The spirit became more aggressive and would fight for control of my voice. I would be talking and sometimes the spirit would speak. I had to control my every word and movement. My hands and arms moved overly fast sometimes. I could not sleep peacefully. The nightmares began of creatures chasing and laughing at me. I slept with a knife under my pillow. I dreaded sleep.

One day my Dad said that he saw a large, ugly devil in our house. He said that he chased the thing and it left through our dining room window. He kept talking about that experience all day. I just made jokes and laughed.

I decided to ask God for help. Who else could help me? Anyone else would probably send me to a mental hospital. I began to pray and fight for control of my mind and body. I always believed that Jesus existed and now it was time to see if Jesus was real. Obviously, the spirit hated Jesus because of it's cursing of Jesus.

                            Year Four

I began to gain some control of my mind and body. I decided to ignore the spirit as much as possible and enrolled in a local college. While attending the college, I joined a Christian group called "Campus Crusade For Christ." The people in that group taught me how to communicate with Jesus. They taught me how to read the bible and I went to church. The people did not know about the spirit. I was too ashamed to tell them or ask them for help.

I learned how to fight a spiritual battle. I memorized and meditated on scriptures concerning the victory of Jesus over Satan. I cl

and I also found this ....

A group of children are sitting around a Ouija Board in a room. Suddenly, they become aware of an evil presence. One of them gasps, pointing at a crack in the cupboard of a door. As the others turn to see what this one child had seen, they look on in unbelief and terror as they see a perfect pair of evil bright green eyes staring at them! They run out of the room, scrambling for the door, down the stairs, and into the street. Everything seems to be out of the ordinary and not as it should be. There is an air of fear and confusion and their perception seems to be distorted. As the children run away from the house, they pause to turn and look back at it. To their horror they see that the entire house is distorted with slanted widows and doors! This terrifying story is the true account of an experience that a neighbor of mine had with the Ouija Board as a child. I have personally known this individual for many years and have never known him to be one to lie or exaggerate. It appears that terrifying experiences like this seem to be common place when people dabble with the Ouija Board.

The Ouija Board is an occultic device designed primarily to contact spirit entities. Different people use the board for different reasons. Some use it specifically to gain knowledge from the beings they seek to contact, hoping gain various information on such matters as career, relationships, or the afterlife etc. Often people are amazed at some of the things the board will reveal to them, things that those who are present would have no way of knowing. Others think that the board is just "a bit of harmless fun", "a game", not realizing the dangerous spiritual implications involved.

So what is it? The name Ouija is a combination of the French and the German words for "yes". As the above photograph shows, the device is usually a wooden board with the letters of the alphabet printed on it, along with the numbers 1 -9, the words "yes" and "no", and the words "good-bye" (Edmund C. Gruss, The Ouija Board, p. 3). People who gather around the board then seek to receive a message, via a glass being lightly held by the group, which spells out the messages.

Through my own research into the Ouija Board I have discovered that almost everyone has a story to tell in connection with it. I have even spoke to those who take a completely humanistic worldview, seeing science as the answer to all things, and who deny the supernatural. But when I asked one particular person, who held this position, what they thought of the Ouija Board they admitted to me that they did think that there was an unexplained evil behind it.

The following quotes from a Christian publication highlight the experiences that others, like the individual in the introduction to this article, have had with the evil of the Ouija Board:

"The headmaster of an Essex school was confronted by a dozen terrified 15-year olds who were seeking help after playing with home-made ouija boards, a simple device for communicating with outside forces. Teachers at the school were shocked at the behavior of those involved which included:

                              - A 15- year old boy who stood bolt upright in a geography lesson, shouting at a spirit to get off his shoulder - before he ran out of the classroom and the school.

                              - A girl claiming to have woken in the night to see a person in her room.

                              - One child who told of how, after a ouija session in a block of recreation park toilets, he was barred by a spirit from leaving the building.

It was only through the help of local clergymen that the problems were resolved. After prayer, the children said they felt as though a huge weight had been lifted from them. One girl slept peacefully through the night for the first time in two weeks." (Doorways to Danger, p. 6)

Should anyone suspect that these accounts are merely a product from the minds of overzealous 'fundamentalist evangelical Christians', it should be noted that even non-Christians and those who are actively involved in the occult, recognize the dangers of the ouija board. Vicar, Kevin Logan tells of the following experience he had in 1987 when he was part of a Tyne Tees television program: "A variety of witches faced us across the TV studio and encouraged us by supporting our warning to the public to avoid playing around with the ouija board. One witch said, 'It is a powerful tool in the occult and we would warn anybody who does not know what they are doing to steer well clear of the ouija." (Kevin Logan, Paganism and the Occult, pp. 130-131.).
