Now this is sad, check this out.

Now that lady need to make that kid lose some weight if she gets to keep him.

That couldn't be my kid. He's hungry every 20 minutes, seriously. It's definitely a disorder.

I feel so sorry for the kid, he might die at 30.

If you mods find this too controversial, you can lock it up.

I was just reading about this on another board. I feel sorry for the child too. It's not like the kid is consuming junk food for every meal, he actually has an appetite that just can't be satisfied, by the sounds of it. Usually, with young kids, unlike adults, stop eating when they get full, not keep going. I hope they find the source of the disorder.

Yeah I've heard about this story earlier, i think what he has is a disorder, believe it or not i heard about this sort of problem on tv a while back, theres like a chemical imbalance, and instead of telling your brain (i think its in the brain, dont quote me), your full, it tells you to keep eating instead... it is sad, and i think thats what the really obese people suffer from.

I'll take the other side. This is unacceptable. She has failed as a parent.

In America, this sort of case could never happen, or half our kids would be in foster care.

People that typically defend the boy are obese themselves.

You can claim all you want its a disorder, but this stuff didn't happen back in the day. There were kids that wanted to eat a lot in 1900, but 220 pound 8 year olds didn't exist. If they did, they were labeled "Whale Boy" and pimped by Barnum and Bailey. They both deserve scorn.

I was at work when I heard this.

I also believe it was a diease. I don't know, maybe I ought to ask Hiro and see what he thinks.

I've heard about something like that too. Due to the imbalance, the brain doesn't shut down once you get full. That could be the case with those who are severely obese. I've always said that anyone who is very obese, has to have some type of a disorder or medical problem or a chemical imbalance since it's just not "normal" to consume such large amounts of food at a time.

If I recall correctly, certain foods can cause this imbalance, or certain chemicals in foods can cause one to continuously eat them. I think they mostly consist of junk foods, though or carbs.

                    Its child abuse!

Disease my ass. If his pancreas didn't work or some shit I'd be ok with your argument. Even if it was an imbalance.... who's letting him do this to himself? The mother! Child abuse through neglect. Theres over diagnosing of diseases in this world. Every damn kid now has ADD too.

A normal child gets full after eating a meal. Young kids usually stop eating when they get full, as they usually pick at their food, etc. Adults usually tend to over-indulge. If the child is continuously hungry, and not feeling full at all at pretty much no time, then there has to be something wrong with the kid in some way. It's not normal in general for a person to eat and to never feel full. That's the impression I'm getting with the kid.

And who is not monitoring the food intake of the child? The mother. Thats neglect. Also, the kid might not ever feel full because of his years of over indulging has expanded his stomach capacity. A child will eat as much chocolate and junk as they can get their hands on if from birth they have never had limits imposed on them.

I believe lax attitudes such as yours are only compounding the obesity and ill discipline of our youth.

Every group has to have a Chunk?

I don't know, that kid is fat because he eats way too much. The mother has to fill the house with healthy foods. Or at least organic stuff.

He’s probably just eating because something is bothering him inside. Or maybe he is eating out of boredom. Either way, it's going to be up to his mother now to get him into shape. Hopefully she can get some positive reinforcement since it seems she is a single mom. and no, I'm not hating on single mums, I just know it's tough when you're not working with two caring parents.

Sweet Jesus. That kid weighs more than I do.

A lot of these child obesity problems could be solved easily. Parents just have to pull their heads out of their asses. I've seen the way today's parents feed their kids-- always with the mac n' cheese, Spaghettios, hot dogs, hamburgers. It's not nutrition, it's just shit! I mean, if you're going to eat that stuff once in a while it's okay, but for every meal?

Also, kids don't play outside anymore, seems like. If they'd eat less shit and play outside more often, maybe there wouldn't be so many problems...?

Sounds a bit like Prader-Willi syndrome. I know someone whose grandson is both severely autistic and has Prader-Willi. The poor kid'll eat anything that's remotely associated with food-- coffee grounds, shrimp tails, egg shells, you name it-- usually whenever your back is turned for five minutes. However, his parents manage his weight very well, although it ultimately means keeping the kitchen door at his house perpetually locked.

so, constantly eating is an actual disorder?

ya learn something new every day.

Anyway..yes, I would like to agree with Armed Revolt. He made some good points. I have ADD and while I believe it to be a real disease, there are probably many kids who are on medicines for ADD even though they don't have it.

it's more then likely hyperactivity due to all that fatty foods and sugery candy they eat lol

Ah, yes. I remember watching a CSI episode where they made light of that disease in which the victim was found in a dumpster, dead, because he ate to death.

Jessica was 400 pounds at 7 years old. I believe she recently lost 300 of those.
