yeah, i've noticed that too, they also do it on TNT also. it has something to do with alotted time so they don't have to cut as much out of the episode, or that's my theory

Just saw Fresh Prince's opening. God, horrible. It's just some scenes of the intro by the closing song.

I concur. It sucks how stuff gets cut from the episodes to put in more ads. Whatever happened to putting ads between shows?

Wikipedia told me that GSN goes as far as slightly speeding up shows so they can add in more commercials. The more obvious devious trick they employ is cutting off the end credits of a show. Oh well, at least you guys got tapes and I don't.

While we're talking about ads, how come there has to be so many? I pulled out an old tape I had recorded off the TV, and there was only one, maybe two commercials between each episode. Now, there's like ten, which is really ridiculous in my opinion.

What really irritates me is that nearly every channel goes to their ad break at the same time, it's like they force you to watch the ads and the only way out of this is to turn off the tv.

i enjoy when a show has its opening theme song and then right after the opening themes song the show starts ..i always hated how they went off to commercials right after the opening theme, or when a show ended with "Too be continued"..like fuck that i dont wanna wait, especially with a season finally i know thats probably for more hype but either way to be continued needs to be taken off shows all together.

Yeah, Jerry Seinfeld has a whole bit about that, I think it's on his I'm Telling You for the Last Time cd. "Oh no, they're not going to wrap this up in time!"

I like how TV Tropolis has been handling Married with Children, they've kept the Sinatra sung theme song you can't get on the DVDs and they don't put an ad break in after the opening credits and before the first act starts. All channels should take that kind of consideration but money, specifically the advertising dollar comes before everything.

It's why I love tv show DVDs and bit torrent stuff, no ads, but you see the few seconds of black when there's an act break so there's still the same pacing as the show's orginal airing and if need be, it's when I pause the DVD to go get something or take care of something.

I think they do that on a radio station in my area...I've always noticed that the songs are slightly higher-pitched. Television/radio stations know that we're wising up to them so they're trying all these new ploys to expose us to as many as ads as possible. With the popularity of DVRs, there's a lot more product placement...now you get to see ads right there in the middle of your favorite program. I've also noticed more back-to-back commercials for the same company, and multiple companies being promoted in a single ad.

TBS was once one of my favorite channels to watch now I do get annoyed by what they are doing with the shows opening credits TNT does the same thing when they show movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I miss the old TBS,and TNT when Ted Turner wss still running things now these stations are just there.

When GSN shows the Dawson Family Feud marathon on Sundays they only show 9 episodes instead of the 10 in 5 hours because they need the complementary 12 minutes of commercials per episode. But the still make the same error at the ending of every show (the credits cut).
