It's the last day of school at a high school in a small town in Texas in 1976. The upperclassmen are hazing the incoming freshmen, and everyone is trying to get stoned, drunk, or laid, even the football players that signed a pledge not to. The film launched several prominent film careers including, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Matthew McConaughey, Joey Lauren Adams and Parker Posey. Renee Zellwegger has an undcredited role in the film as well. The main character is Randall "Pink" Floyd, played by Jason London, who is the school's star quarterback. He is not the least bit cocky and is well liked by everyone in the school. Pink's dilemma is the fact the coaches have decided to make all the athletes in the school sign a pledge, which forbids any alcohol, drugs or illegal activities. He is the only one who does not sign it, which becomes a recurring theme throughout the film.
Directed by Richard Linklater.
