This show featured a few teams of contestants who would answer questions about grocery products and guess prices of groceries to get points. The high point of the show is to collect as much groceries as you can to win.
Originally, Supermarket Sweep started as a travelling game show from 1965-1967 on ABC where it took place in a Food Fair Supermarket in the New York Metropolitan Area. The host at the time was Bill Malone.
Supermarket Sweep returned in 1990 with David Ruprecht as host. But it added a twist. The setting was in a studio supermarket rather than going to other supermarkets. Somewhere hidden inside the Supermarket was $5,000. If the team found the right clues leading to the $5,000, they won the game. The Ruprecht version aired on Lifetime from 1990-1995, and then on PAX from 2000-2003. In 2020 a revival of the show began produced and hosted by Leslie Jones.
