I still have all 3, but my favourite would have to be number one.

My favorite is 2!! I like the fact that you were sneaking on enemy grounds to save DK!! I liked how well Diddy and Dixie worked together too, and Diddy's little rap was cool. lol

I would've liked 3 better, if it wasn't a rehashed storyline. Okay, I could see DK getting kidnapped, which led to game 2, but the fact that BOTH got kidnapped, and Dixie and her little cousin, had to go after them...I'm sorry, I hated that story...and missed Diddy. lol

Donkey Kong Country Rules all the way.
DKC2: Diddy Kong Quest, wasn't as Good since No DK and now you Have Dixie who was annoying as hell. and Now you needed coins to either save or get hints.
DK3 sucked No Diddy, No Donkey , 2 annoying characters , hard to navigate map , poor handling sucky music Impossible bosses and . a waste of time. Plus at the time I was playing N64 so It made it more crap1

So in Short DK1 rules, DK2 Sucks, DK3 F***n Sucks!!!

How was Dixie annoying? Her spin glide move really helped me out of some sticky situations in that game. But yeah...that was kind of annoying how you had to spend coins to save.

Anyway...Donkey Kong Country 2 all the way for me. I loved the level design more then the original, the soundtrack, the bonus games, etc. Donkey Kong Country 1 is still one of my favorites though. As for DKC 3...it was OK, but it just wasn't as good. The series was getting old by then...and I didn't like the levels nearly as much as the ones in the first two.

I never had a problem with that aspect of DKC 2. To be honest, I rarely bought anything, 'cept for when it came to saving my progress and to get extra lives for Swanky's bonus games, and even then, it wasn't difficult to actually find coins to spend since you could always go back to previous levels.

Same here. I love the music for DKC 2, same for DKC, but I liked the the pirate-themed music for game 2 more so. Too bad I don't remember anything for DKC 3 aside from the bonus game where you had to throw balls (or something) and competing against Cranky, I don't remember much at all.

For everyone here, what would you have done to make DKC 3 a better game? IMO, it just needed a more convincing story for the most part since the whole, "kidnapping" theme had already been done.

Hmm, maybe DKC 3 would've been better, if it had been some other kong kidnapped and not DK and Diddy. I wonder how that game would've worked out if Dixie was the one kidnapped, and we would've, once again, got a DK + Diddy team again to rescue her.

DKC2 is my favorite, mainly because of the more creative stages. I also really like DKC3 because it also had some really cool levels. The music was great, too, especially Rockface Rumble (the music that plays in the mountain levels). It's a shame they had to change the soundtrack in the GBA port. :(

Well, all of the DKC games have stale storylines (all of them involve rescuing someone, which was stale even back in '94-'96). In fact, good stories aren't really necessary in platform games.

But for DKC, no one was really kidnapped. DK's hoard was just stolen and the Kremlings stuffed Diddy into a barrel after doing so since he was the one guarding it. I didn't mind the kidnapping storyline for DKC 2, just so Diddy could be the star, I found it lame that this was done for DKC 3, by having both of the main characters kidnapped just so Dixie could be the star, not that there's anything wrong with her character, it just seems farfetched that DK would get kidnapped again, and then Diddy get dragged into it. I feel that this would've worked better if they'd had another kong kidnapped - if they really wanted to use the kidnapping theme again - as opposed to DK and Diddy.

Donkey Kong Country 1 because I loved the music, the intro where Cranky is playing his record player and Donkey Kong plops in with his BoomBox, and I loved how the graphics were made for a SNES game. I also love LOVE the sound the mine cart makes when you jump and land back on the track, sounds like "yea" and the music for the Crystal Caverns level. The 2nd one was alright but the girl was annoying. 3rd one was alright but the baby was ugly.

DKC 2 is the best by far. It was more difficult, had one of the best soundtracks ever, and K. Rool was harder to kill in this one than in DKC 1 and 3. DKC 3 was alright but it was pointless to include that baby Kong (forgot his name). I don't know who actually liked him (I guess that's why he wasn't in any other adventure game). The music in DKC 3 was mostly disappointing to me, expect for a couple stage themes.

The first one always. I loved that game, and used to play it all the time.

DKC 2 is above all. It had the best gameplay and soundtrack. I liked the bonus stages, the variety of courses, and the end goals. I also enjoyed the "Lost World" levels - I still haven't completed all of them. I agree with toonwatcher about DKC 3, I never saw the point of the baby. He could carry and toss the female kong easier, but overall I never thought he was necessary.

All three had their cons and pros, the music was very well done in all, though the gameplay in one was a bit of a downside compared to the other two. Difficulty was never a problem, all were challenging and had good story lines. There really is no best of the three

basically just the first, really. it had all the platforming fun, and when the sequel and third game came along, they just didn't measure up to the original

I would have to say the original and DKC 2. I've never played the 3rd game.
