I'm gonna say Game Gear. Game Boy was good, but you couldn't play it in the dark, and some of the third party games weren't as good as they were on Game Gear (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Game Gear rocked, and Mortal KOmbat was better on Game Gear IMO), and Game Boy didn't have a carrying case.

heh, guess I'm alone on my descision. :lol: But can we at least get some explanations on why the GB is better?

Oh wait...
Game Boy is better because it was cheaper, had a longer battery life, and a better selection of games. For Game Gear, there're few that stand out, like the Shining Force Gaiden games, but most of the games were watered-down ports of Master System or Genesis titles.

True, but Game Gear had some SOnic the Hedgehog gems like Triple Trouble and Tails' adventure that everyone overlooks.

I liked Gameboy better. That was the system that I grew up owning. I never played Game Gear that much.
did you not noticed the horrible difference of the sonic games between genesis and game gear.

I grew up with the Game Gear first, so I'm not being biased, but I'd have to say Game Boy just had more great games. Let's compare:
Game Gear had:
Some good Sonic games
Some great Power Rangers games
BattleToads
And a sucky Mega Man game
Game Boy had:
Super Mario Land games
A bunch of GREAT Mega Man games
A Zelda Game
Pokemon
BattleToads
An extremely long life
Good sound
Kirby games
A Donkey Kong remake
And a Metroid game
Game Gear had:
Some good Sonic games
Some great Power Rangers games
BattleToads
And a sucky Mega Man game
Game Boy had:
Super Mario Land games
A bunch of GREAT Mega Man games

I'd take gameboy over game gear. Neither had any games that made me go "omfg I gotta get one". So that leaves me with just the fact that gameboy was cheaper, smaller, lighter, and had ultra battery life. Also it was the original hand held with interchangable games. First portable system I ever bought was a gba sp....because loads of classic snes and nes games were getting ported in near perfection to it. And it's so small and easy to put away. And the battery life is just insane.

Game Gear had color, a lighted screen, and a TV tuner as well. Now watching TV on a handheld system is awesome, no matter what anyone says.

the NES controller had a bigger role. LOL
I think that Game Boy is a better choice. Besides it was the first handheld video game system to be realeased.
