I have a Monopoly CD for the PS1 and It wont play in my PS1 or PS2.

It is pretty scratched up on the bottom, but ive played worse ones with no problem

on my PSone it does one of 3 things

1. ignores the cd and just goes to the main menu
2. says "please insert playststion disk"
3. takes it as a music CD, yet won't play.

on my ps2 the browser recogizes it as a ps1 game, but when i press X it just goes to a black screen.

I have tried to clean it and yet, same results.

Is there anything else i can do? (my little cousin REALLY wants to play it)

Its probibly a laser problem where the laser is simply not detecting the disk, another good methid is to try a light amount of car wax on the disk. And if all those dont work i would just buy a PS2.

        www.estarland.com can fix it:

send 'em the disc for repair, they'll remove the scratches from the disc with their special equipment, then they'll return you the disc scratch free! Hope that helps

buy a cartridge based system, scratching a cart doesn't really stop it from working

Buy the boardgame instead. It's got better graphics.

Some game retailers have the heavy-duty resurfacing machine and will either repair it for a couple dollars, or even for free if you're lucky. My Gears of War disc was unplayable for months; I took it in to my local GameCrazy and they fixed it free of charge. It looked brand new and you couldn't even tell it had been resurfaced. Worked beautifully from then on.

I still hate optical media. It turns games into movies, and it's so easy to break it.

Or instead of paying the $3.00 plus shipping for the repair, get a new or nice quality used one for 50 cents. (I can't imagine Monopoly on the PS1 fetching high prices in the collector's market...)

you could always use some toothpaste on the disc to help w/ the scratches...just make sure you use the basic plain white, bottom of the line type of toothpaste, the others won't work. heres some articles that can help w/ repairing scratched CDs.

step 5 on the page below talks about polishing the disc w/ toothpaste:
