Does anyone else remember this awesome little gem?
This was a great rpg with good sound, great gameplay, and an intriguing story with a very shocking twist.
You start the game as a guy named, "Van", who lives a very simple life until his girlfriend gets kidnapped by a guy named "Galam". Galam kidnaps her because she possesses something that can aid him in conquering "Idea" ( the planet they all live on, it's pronounced, id-ee-ya ) Galam is the most powerful wizard in all the land, and van must stop him and get his girl back. He eventully engages Galam but is utterly defeated, Galam can kill him but does not. Instead he decides it would be funny to send you 20 years into the future to live in his new, and fully conquered, oppressive world and see the fruits of his insane labor.
You then take over as Cadet Babette, a cosmic cop who is bored and patrolling an area around the outskirts of the planet Idea. She receives a distress signal from idea and decides to head down to investigate much against the advice of "Robar", her computer assistant, who claims the planet is run by a tyrant dictator and it isn't part of the galactic federation. Without going any further into the story, you eventually meet up with Van and together with the aid of many other interesting characters you go up against Galam and his cronies.
This game requires massive amounts of time grinding and leveling up, which i don't mind, i actually enjoy it. The translations are top notch and quite funny seeing as "Working Designs" is the publisher. Cosmic Fantasy 2 reminds me a lot of the Phantasy Star series. I would highly recommend this game to any serious rpg fan, you will not be let down.
