When I was much younger, this was this book series I always liked reading and it quickly became my favorite. However, I grew older and moved on to other things. During that time, I have forgotten the name, thus I need help.

I remember one of the books involved a girl and her brother playing around with some clay. The catch was, whatever they made came alive. Near the end of the book, the girls' friend comes over and is nearly eaten by one of the creatures. The scene is shown on the cover of that book. The clay monsters were defeated with water, and at the end, the father comes home with a new, water-proof batch from the same company.

If anyone can help me either name the book or the book series, I will be really thankful.
