Does anybody remember the company that made color changing shoes in the early to mid 90s? I remember that it went along with the color changing clothing fad of the early 90's. The shoes had clear inserts that were filled with a temperature sensitive liquid crystal gel. It would change colors if you touched it or if it was hot outsice. I remember that evey kid in school wanted those shoes.

I searched on Google and Wikipedia but could not find it, thetv guy. All I remember was the shoes that used to light up in the heel when you stepped on them. I actually still have a pair but I try to only wear them on special occasions so that the battery doesn't wear out.

I think I remember them. I had pair filled with color gel that moved/morphed when you touched it, but it wasn't heat-sensitive.

You're probably thinking of Ooze Shoes. I had a pair with that stuff in them that kind of squished and changed colors when you touched it. It was like a gel that was dark greenish-blue in color. Is that what yours looked like? If it helps, I remember the box they came in was a bright yellow color. I wish I could find a picture of them.
Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!

Yes, I'm talking about the touch seneitve ones. As I remember, they would also change colors or not work if the got too hot.

Upon futher research, Stride Rite still makes them, although I do not remember them being the original manufacturer.

I remember 'glow in the dark' kids shoes were a shoe fad in the mid 80s. In the early 90s the Hyper Color shirts were common. I had two of them and they would change color when they got warm. I'm sure these shoes came out around the same time. I was in 8th grade then and color changing shoes would have been more for little kids just like the light up shoes. So I do not remember ever seeing them.

I kind of remember having a pair of Converse shoes that had the color changing ooze stuff in them in third grade. They were touch sensitive, so you squished the pouch and it would change colors and things.

Is this refreshing you a bit?

Thanks Nashida! I think they were Converse shoes. I also was around 10 when I had them. Does anybody have pictures or know the model name?

By the way, does anybody remember oilies stickers? They were the same thing as the shoes except in puffy sticker fourm.

Does anyone remember the boots that came out in the 80's that would change color according to the temperature? My daughter remembered having those and would like to find some for her daughter. I think that I bought them at Sears or Penneys but they are no where to be found now.

I remember having a pair of sneakers with the lights in the back from Target when I was like 3, and I remember having a color changing tye-dye shirt that changed with heat that I wore till it stopped changing color .
As for the color changing shoes, I know PF Flyers has a shoe that changes colors as they get more worn, so obviously there's still a demand for color changing clothes.
