I was wondering if anyone else can remember the following 2 cartoons that I've had trouble finding info on.
One was called Star-Child (I think), which I first saw on cartoon network many years ago in the early hours and its setting was in some sort of darkish mythical world, with the main character being a blonde haired headband-wearing messianic hero-in-training.
From what I remember, the main character's love interest / friend was a mermaid (who may have died at some point I recall a scene where the hero placed her body in a lake that soon sank to the bottom) and the main antagonist was some evil overlord who ruled from a castle.
One other thing sticks for me on this series is the ending theme, its starts off with something like "we are the children of the earth..." and ends with something like "…he is the Star-Child, he is the Star-Child".
The second cartoon I'm less sure about, it was somewhat similar to Mysterious Cities of Gold (from what I've read so far of the latter) though it had a few modern day kids accidently sent to a parallel world, where an ancient advanced civilisation (atlantis or Lumuria?) now exists and who end up transferring their collective consciousness into some giant disco-ball thing (though it may of occurred many thousands of years ago in the series).
Other things that sticks out was scenes featuring people in combat-suits fighting duels and an ending song that sounded like new age music from a female gospel group.
I hope those details can help jog someones memories and sorry for not being able to give more info for you to go by.

After frantic searching it turns the two cartoons I mentioned before were Omer and the Starchild, & Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea (both French Cartoons dubbed into English), though I'm unable to find much info on the former.
