When did Sugar Crisp have it's name changed to Golden Crisp?

I'm sure it was Sugar Crisp and not Super Golden Crisp, b/c I can remember Sugar Bear's jingle at the end of the commercial; "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp"

It just doesn't sound right as "Can't get enough of that Golden Crisp"

the name may have changed, but the taste sure as hell hasn't.

But according to that site, the name changed in the 70's. I wasn't born until '85, and I clearly remember the cereal being called Sugar Crisp

Well back then in the 70s censoring was such a major thing. look at the saturday morning toons then, bit by the PC Bug. (cuz no violence)
            (btw PC means Politically Correct)

wtf? pc? i don't think so. it was just a minor image-change, not censorship, to better market the cereal as appropriate breakfast food. parents were having doubts about the nutritional values in the bowls of refined sugar their kids were shovelling down their gullets.

I am pretty sure SugarBear sold Sugar Crisps and then, the name changed to Super Golden Crisps....

I remember that smooth bear (he's like Billy Dee Williams selling Colt .45 for chrisssakes) singing "Can't get enough of Super Golden Crisps...its got the crunch with punch" or something like that.

...or something.....the cereal itself I wasn't too keen on, I remember about a day after you opened it it would get kinda sticky and gooey from humidity, and it got stale real quick because all it was is Puffed Rice sprayed with sugar :)

Yup. You are right. Heres a link:
                    http://www.lavasurfer.com/cereal-post.html

Apparently the word 'sugar' was banned from cereal boxes sometime in the 70's and thats when the name change happened.

I distinctly remember Sugar Crisp becoming Super Golden Crisp and a commercial that stressed the *gold* fact because they added more honey. I'd say the name change was somewhere between 1982-1986. It wasn't in the 70's because I would've been too young to remember!

Okay, could be mistaken, but I think it was the mid/late '70s when "Sugar Crisp" turned into "Super Sugar Crisp," and the early/mid '80s when that morphed into "Super Golden Crisp." At least that's how I remember it (don't think that the info on the link above is totally accurate). I used to love the stuff, but I can't stomach it anymore...

you just can't beat a bowl of Lucky Charms, Count Chocula, or Cocoa Pebbles. Get a large spoon and feezing cold milk.

That link was quite informative about most of the cereals ever produced. I've tried Super/Sugar/Golden Crisp Cereal and it did get sticky after a while Bleecchhhh...

If you ask me, I'm a Frosted Flakes man myself. ...Too bad my mother has become too much of a "Nutritious-Crazy-Health-Nut" and thinks they're high in sugar and calls most Kellogg's cereals "Candy for Breakfast", so now it's Basic 4, Fiber One, Grape Nuts Flakes or some other cereal sans Promotional Mascot. :x >_<

Aw, but those fiber-stuffed cereals are so good! Can't you just feel them going straight to your bowels with every spoonful?
I never liked Sugar Crisp; I was always more of a Cap'n Crunch and Corn Pops girl.
