i was talking to my friend earlier today about an episode of robot chicken that used the original voice of brainy smurf (danny goldman) and said verbatim mind you, the following:

'i wonder why they didn't use paul winchell for gargamel, he's still alive'

then we spoke about wacky races (he was the voice of dastardly)

he was also the voice of tigger from winnie the pooh, was in the heathcliff cartoon, and the hair bear bunch to name a couple. i just read two minutes ago on imdb that he died:(

paul winchell - inventor, ventriloquist, oscar winner, gargamel...

sigh

by the way, the first time i ever saw the movie the godfather' (which was last year), the next day, brando died.
my friend who i was speaking to today bout robot chic. had a similar experience when she mentioned reagan to some co workers a while ago, two days later, he also passed... does that happen to any of you?

michelle 'will never ever see godfather 2'

Yeah its very sad. Paul did it all. His voice was one of a kind and was recognized everywhere. From the original Tigger to Gargamel to the original Zummi Gummi to many other Disney movies, Paul was a voice acting legend. His daughter April Winchell was the voice of Ms. Finster from Recess. He also is credited as an inventor of the first aritificial heart.

    RIP

Wow, that's really sad... He must have been a great guy, I love the eighties, but grew up in the nineties (i'm 15 now...) I used to watch smurfs when i was little, but when i watch it now i have no idea what the smurf is smurfin' on... Oh well, may a true legend rest in peace.

I didn't know Paul Winchell was still living. I'd been wondering about him for a good while too, and whether or not he was still alive.

Oh my god, I just found out that John Fielder who was the voice of Piglet since the very beginning, has just died. A day after Paul Winchell, the original Tigger, died. These legends from our childhood are all slowly passing on. Its very sad.

It was one of the top headlines on Yahoo yesterday. It's sad that the voices that started it all are passing away. I always think of the Warner Bros. tribute to Mel Blanc "Speechless", whenever I hear of one of the greats of voice over passing away.

                Here's Paul Winchell's Website

I remember that guy from 12 Angry Men (one of my favorite old movies), and of course from the classic Star Trek episode where he played the body hosting that evil "spirit" creature who was murdering women......

I was talking awhile back and the topic of these guys came up, I think we said "I wonder if Disney or the Kellogs people are having these guys record stuff that they may never use, because they were each getting so up there in age." Figuring that they'd want to have stock audio comments digitally somewhere that they could use years after they passed away.

Kinda like the guy who did those Smuckers Jams commercials died not too long ago.......I remember the actor who did that voice was a staple in the 80's...but even back then in the 80's he seemed old, so he must have been postively ancient when he passed...

Paul Winchell also did the voice of Zummi Gummi in the Gummi Bears
