So I just curious where people's loyalties lay.........hahahaha just kidding
But serious ly growing up or even now what do you prefer?...NES? Genesis? SNES? CD-x? or maybe you are of the playstation generation. Me? I' am a NES playa all the way. this is what I was raised on and this is what I love. I love my Gamecube(Resident Evil 4 is the most fun I've had playing a game in recent history) but I have to admit that X-box is where my future in gaming rests. Unless Nintendo pulls yet another rabbit out of it's hat with the Revolution-----sorry to say but I doubt it.

I left the "other" catagory for all you people who owned a Turbograpix or a jaguar or any of the other "lesser known" consoles. please specify what console you prefered in a response if you selected other, pretty please.

PS if this is a poll that has been done before then I am sorry. just erase the topic if thats the case.

I myself love the NES as well but being a rpg fanatic, Im definitely gonna have to go with the SNES with the Playstation coming in at a close second. I was about 6 or 7 when the SNES came out but my sisters wanted a stupid genesis instead so I didnt get my future dream system till a year later but it was well worth the wait. It was still pumping out good games towards its end too. But thats a totally different topic.

I've gotta agree with evilbarney, the SNES was definitly the best for RPG'ers. I really loved the NES and still think that it had some of the best games of all time (Final Fantasy, Maniac Mansion, etc) but I've got to give it to SNES. Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, Mario RPG, Drakkhen, Y's 3 Wanders from Y's, Chrono Trigger, Actraiser, Illusion of Gaia, the list goes on and on.
I don't know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much... yummier

see in my opinion playstation was the best for rpg's.....Final fantasy VII, VIII, IX are the best Rpg's ever!!! even the parasite eve's were good. legend of dragoon was awesome.

but I gotta give it up to super mario rpg and FF III and link to the past and chrono trigger.

ps2 rpgs are not as good as playstation rpgs case in point being FF X-2, that was a horrible game. better graphics does not mean a better game.

It's not that no one had an Atari, it's that people didn't like it as much as a Nintendo. Not that I blame them....the Atari had some fun games, but they lacked complexity. Really, the Atari shouldn't belong in this poll, and neither should the playstation. There's kind of an eclectic mix of consoles here, and (since the playstation is in the mix) several should have been included, such as the original Sega console, Turbograffix 16, the Neo/Geo, Panasonic 3DO, etc.

and beleive it or not but some of us did play Atari and playstaion 1 is not that weird to be on this list, it came out in 97.like a year and a half after nintendo 64. By the way I wish I'd had added Nintendo 64 to the list but I already had 2 nintendo sytems and I felt I had to add sony, so I put the Playstation on it instead

The NES reigns supreme if for no other reason than the fact that a little game called River City Ransom was created for it. I still recall when SNES emerged and I was adamantly opposed to any other system taking a back seat to NES, as if SNES was "too new-school," but in hindsight, it was actually a great system in its own right and to this day is the only other system I still will play on a regular basis. Games like Halo are just a waste of time in my opinion and can't hold a candle to the original class of first person shooters like Contra.

I had first an Atari 2600 and then a NES and Gameboy. I have to say that I spent many hours equally on all consoles.

But really my loyalties werent with any consoles but with either an Amiga 2000 or an AtariST. When I was a kid and visited people that had a SNES or a Megadrive I didnt long to own either of those consoles. But when I visited people that had an Amiga or an Atari I was just hooked in front of the screen. Except gaming I could paint there of course. One cousin of mine who was a musician was using also an AtariST and a synthesizer.

 I disagree here. Halo is a fantastic game. Halo is evidence that if you focus on gameplay then worry about graphics you get a superior game. Contra is good but I would rather play Halo. Besides Guerilla War was more fun than Contra anyway. IMO.

im partial to SNES since that was what all my neighborhood friends had. we used to buy the same games and compete to see who could finish it faster or who could get the most secrets...specificly <spelling?> my favorite was final fantasy 2. even now that game still sucks me in.

I have never lived in a world that didn't have the NES. I cannot even imagine life without that wonderful piece of electronic engineering. I have, however, known life without the SNES, PS1, N64, Genesis, and the whole slew of other consoles which have appeared throughout the past 20 years. As such, I would invariably choose the NES over any other, if only because my entire life would be different without its existance.

SNES! It had Earthbound & Super Mario RPG!

Although we got NES, I must say that my favorite is SNES, but that's because I haven't played other video games in other consoles. I tried playing a 3-D game but I couldn't get used to the controller.

It's funny because once my friend was talking about how she only played NES and she thought the SNES was too complicated. I laughed and then realized that I never got pass the SNES b/c I thought the new ones were too complicated.

Nintendo's Revolution controller really looks interesting (and easy) to use. Does anyone know what percentage of gamers are girls? I think girls play more nowadays, but none of the girls I know play them.
