The animation seems fairly well done and the story has a point, but come on! It's Bambi! The story is over, it's already a masterpiece that's still well reknowned. There is no real need to further the story or bring it up right now unless you intend to make something great with it, not some half assed sequal that's completely unneccessary! I'm not doubting the talents of the animators, but the story is not one that should be changed, maybe remade in the far future, but not changed. That's my opinion of it.
I've been proven wrong before, The Lady and the Tramp II, Toy Story II, and the Lion King II were actually pretty good, not as good as the first mind you but good. So far it's my opinion that after the greatest and original work is done all of these sequels just try to squeeze money out of consumers. Atlantis II, The Little Mermaid II, The Secret of Nimh II, The Jungle Book II, Beauty and the Beast II (more or less a christmas special), Tarzan II, the Aladdin sequels, Cinderella II, The neverending Land Before time sequels, The Casper sequels, all animated Scooby Doo movies, and the list goes on. All of those were unnecessary "add on's" that were cut from the first movie because they weren't that great in the first place or were thought of later. I don't have a high opinion of these kinds of movies and would love to see more effort put into more original movies, but then A.) there wouldn't be as many jobs in the entertainment industry and B.) big companies wouldn't make as much money and C.) our standards for good movies would be set almost too high and if every movie were a masterpiece then there wouldn't be any masterpieces, just normal movies. So I guess they're a neccessary evil, but that doesn't mean I have to like 'em!
And this concludes my most likely last rant of the year....
