I loved Pee-Wee as a kid, but I was of the age where it wasn't cool to watch Saturday morning shows, so I pretended I hated him and nobody seemed to wonder why I seemed to have so much to say about his show. *lol
About two months ago, I went to see a screening of his first film at the Arclight in Los Angeles. Paul Reubens himself introduced the film and you've never heard such cheers for him. The screening was sold out and another one had been hastily added by popular demand. Afterwards, Reubens answered questions and said that two Pee-Wee films are written and in the works...we will see what happens. I for one would love to see what kind of money a new Pee-Wee film would make...for what it's worth, Reubens doesn't look much different from when he last played the character.
By the way, if you want to see a very different and more adult-oriented Pee-Wee, see if you can find the old "Pee-Wee Herman Show" video, which costars Phil Hartman. You can see that Pee-Wee was originally a lot more horny and perverted...at one point, he hypnotizes a woman to strip on stage and at another, he quickly straps mirrors to his shoes before a woman (playing a little girl) appears onstage in a dress.
