Now this movie may SEEM like a namby pamby musical... and in a way it kinda is. But u need to think of the principle. A bunch of underpaid bad ass orphan newsboys get ripped off by William Randolf Hurtz and form a strike and basicly their own form of rebelion stretching from Mannhatten to Queens and even thoes dirty no good Brooklyn newsies led by their smartass leader Spot. Sure they break out in to song but they fight, and the songs are awesome (It takes a smile as sweet as butter that the ladies can't resist. It takes an orphan with a stutter, that aint afraid to use his FIST). No one seems to like this movie but me.Well DAMN U ALL

I liked the movie as well. Whole lot of brawling :D

Favorite part was when the newspaper brought in a bunch of thugs to quell the newsie strike and it erupted into a big brawl... and then the boys from Brooklyn came walking in 8)

      Good stuff

I love this movie, too! It's funny, but I remember one of the critics' loudest complaints about the lyrics in the songs was the bad grammar the songs used. Obviously, they missed the opening narration in which it's made clear that the newsies were "poor orphans and runaways". They aren't going to talk OR sing like Harvard graduates. The music is just great, Alan Menken is a talented composer! I think in the right hands, and with a few additional songs (a duet for Jack and Sarah's characters set to the music of the rooftop scene, for example), this would translate very well to the stage.

hate to sound like Jason53 but there was already a topic on this.

I watched the movie in my dance class and it was great

I was also in this at my camp and most of the people from this was in Roundhouse. Roundhouse was a sketch comedy that included incredible dancers as well as far out comedy.
