Was anyone a fan of these 2 magazines? I read MAD religiously from 86 up to 93, and i got the cd-rom set that has EVERY issue from 1952 to 1998. As for Cracked, i loved it too, and read it around the same time frame (LOVED spys and sabs, and their parody of home improvement was funnier than MADs). I think what i remember most about Cracked though was that they did PARODIES of the naked gun and hot shots films, and they were actually just as funny as the actual films. Anyone else read these back in the day or currently?

Does Cracked magazine still exist? I don't see it around anymore ,but it was a funny magazine. And since MAD magazine was brought up, that picture with Elvis dead on the toilet with the title "The King's final days on the Throne" was so funny. I saw it at a store and I just laughed so out loud that people were staring at me. I regret not buying that issue.

Amazingly, I still have my Mad Magazine Star Wars special from just before "The Phantom Menace." It's not in very good condition, but it's still readable. I even managed to pull off "The Star Wars Macarena" (away from others, of course), though I always stumble over the part about Chewbacca.

I used to read them around 1993/94, then I didn't care.

My favourite part of Cracked, though, was the Spies and Saboteurs, in each issue they'd hit a different public place. Those were great.

I've only ever bought one, the Videogames issue, where they had parodies of all the NES games of the day and so on. Funny stuff.

There's a book at my library that takes a look at all the ad parodies they did over the years.

I remember when I was a kid I got a Mad magazine...And it had a parody of Sesame Street...And they called Big Bird "Big Turd"...My brother and I thought that so funny and we kept laughing saying "Big Turd...Big Turd"...Finally our Mom had enough and she took the magazine away from us

Here's a newer Mad episode that parodied Sesame Street. Big Bird got the bird flu!

Does anyone have a scan of when Cracked did spoofs of childrens' books? There was one I liked: a pissed-off girl rabbit on the cover of a book titled "Pat The Bunny...And She'll Sue!!

I could never get into mad for some reason. I used to love Cracked, even though it was an expensive pile of sheets in Canada.

Cracked and Mad were arch rivals, always trying to burn each other.

I read MAD from about 88 until '95 or so. It just wasn't that funny to me after that point for some reason, though I think it was nothing more than faded interest. Sometimes I'm half-tempted to buy the new ones to see if I can get back into it.

I had attempted collecting them, but never followed through. I have a few of the regular magazines, as well as the Music, TV, and Sports Super Specials.

My wife and I have both read MAD since we were kids. I think the best issues I remember reading were the ones from the late 80's. Now they're so full of ads that they've taken out alot of the regular features they use to have. But, we still buy them. Mindless reading at it's best.

That was hysterical! "Everyone's infected in the neighborhood..."

I loved both Mad and Cracked. My dad was cool and gave me a Mad magazine just as I was leaving for camp. Turns out that I was the only person in my section of camp who had brought anything to read. My Mad magazine made quite a number of rounds during the after-lunch rest period. I didn't actually get to read it through until later, but fortunately I'd also brought a small book with me. But I still remember that Mad fondly. It was more popular at camp than candy.
