hey now, this is my first thread here in this beautiful place. I was just checking out a few old soap clips on youtube.com (and someone was sweet enough to post Susan Lucci and her first Emmy win, too) and I got to thinking: are there any memories from soap operas past that left you happy, sad, mad, or other emotions that were hard to explain? if so this is the place.

I know a lot of us might remember the wedding of Luke & Laura on General Hospital or the many deaths and resurrections of the evil Stefano on Days of Our Lives (I don't, my family is hard core ABC soap fans...long live All My Children, no offense to the NBC lovers out there)

and with the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2 weeks, this could be something fun. enjoy the memories here and bonus points to the one who can remember Erica Kane with all her married names. I'll try myself...with Mom and my aunts' help of course.

Luke and Laura got married on General Hospital in 1981, I think...two years before I was born :( I missed it!! ABC soaps are okay, but I love my two CBS soaps and NBC soaps. I watch Days of our Lives when I can, but not often.

My most memorable soap stories are pretty recent: Cassie dying on Y&R; Amber and Thomas hooking up on B&B; Martin coming back to Harmony on Passions; and a lot more :) What I remember most in the past is when Sally and Taylor got shot in B&B (both seperate incidents), ooh, and when Ridge fell in the fire at the foundry in South America.

My mom used to watch the ABC soaps (All My Children, One Life to Live, Loving, General Hospital), but she doesn't anymore. My grandma got me into Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful, and my father-in-law got me into Passions ;) So you can thank them for converting me!! When I was growing up I always said that soaps were stupid and I'd never watch them. Look at me now :)

When we got our first VCR in the mid 80s, my mom would record all of the ABC soaps, which came out to be about 3.5 hours. Since we had one TV, she had control of it all evening watching them after she got home from work, so I got into it here and there. However, Its been so long since I watched them, I have totaly forgoten anything that I watched.

My mom, now retired, still is into them.

Oh My Gosh! I am so addicted to Another World right now. They are airing the 1990 episodes on Soap Net. I always used to watch it with my mom and grandma, but I don't really remember the stories until I was in middle school. I love Cass and Frankie.

my aunt and her daughters watched it religiously to the very end. one of them got to meet Cass in person and got to interview him. she said he was so sweet.

My mom used to watch all my children everyday. I remember that Tad had an evil twin named Ted (or was it the other way around?) who kept him locked up in a cave and took over his life.

I could be wrong, but wasn't "Ted", Tad with amnesia after getting "killed" when him and Dixie were going to be married and it was Natalie's evil twin who had her in a cave or well or something and tried to take over her life. Like I said I could be wrong, my mom used to watch AMC and I'd watch once in a while during the summer break.
