Being the best of the series it is so sad that this has not got as much attention as it should. It is also hard to find a copy of this underrated gem. Anybody agree with me? In fact it is the only one of the four not to have a DVD release (Part III is getting one next year).

I think parts 1 and 2 are the best. The first one was unique and almost dreamlike. The second one was awesome too because it was the most action packed and goriest of all of them. Part 3 was so so as well as part 4. Part 4 may have explained the most out of all of them but it was really slow.

Phantasm 1 is a damn good horror movie. It was one of the horror gems of the 70s horror realm. It lacks gore but the suspense and story provide for a great movie. The underlying themes in the movie are great, dark, and disturbing, as well.

Part 2 is the action sequel that works under the premise of the first one. The gore is substantial and the theme of death itself is rather disturbing given the mortuary scenes. The zombie girl was a nice touch, too.

Part 3 was a joke. It was a horrible story. The gore was comicbook style and added little to the story, as a whole. Overall, if you like cheap gore and nothing else, watch part 3. But expect nothing more.

Part 4 was the mystery that leaves you with more questions than answers. But I enjoy that aspect of this addition. The gore was on the spot-not too little, not too much. Given the paltry movie budget, the movie works.

There has a been rumor of a part 5. But to date, no word.

Yes part II was very good I go with part 1 has the best though part III and 4 are just plain horrible. This series should have ended with 2 and that's it . Someone tell me what happen to the black girl that was in part 3 did they talk about her at all in 4? If they did I didn't hear anything

I bought this movie at a video store for $3. It is a very good sequel.
