I set his up as its own thread after some posting on the worst films
of the 80s. What about those cheese-ball "extreme sports" films before there was even the term "extreme sports" . . Essentially, the formula was "Take West Wise Story/Romeo and Juliet + 'random youth fad'" = crappy movie . . . For examples, see RAD, THRASHIN' or NORTH SHORE . . . What do you think?

The lamest, and therefore funniest, of those random youth fad movies is BMX Bandits (1983).
They actually had synthesised sound effects for the 'moves' they'd pull on their bikes. So cheesy.

ah...the 80's BMX craze. I have never seen BMX Bandits but I love RAD and I prefer Gleaming the Cube when it comes to skate movies. Josh Brolin really screwed up Thrashin' for me!

I loved RAD.. I remember wishin i could pull off BMX moves after watching RAD for the first time.
Yeah, I remember completely waxing after attempting a "Miami hopper". hurts.

RAD even had gratuitous cameos by "REAL BMXers!" not mention an "awesome" dance sequence when the characters use their bikes to impress the ladies . . . SWEET!
ha Trashin' was great. The skate joust fight in it was completely ridiculous. They had those weird flail things. Not to mention the RHCP appearance.
