Have you ever recorded something years ago, that was very near and dear to your heart, and then recorded over it? It sucks right.

I experienced something like that. It was not "retro" but in 2003 i taped the kids choice awards. I have taped them since '92, so since it was comming on agian this year, i decided to re-watch my collection for great mems. but with out realising i had the tape in there, i recorded over the first 30 mins of the 2003 KCA's. All b/c i didnt have a DVR on that tv. Others do, but not that one.

Well anyway, has this ever happened to you? Post it here, it might make feel better.

I do regret recording over the Cartoon Network premire or The Powerpuff Girls movie. I recorded this back in 2003, back when Cartoon Network was in it's prime. But then I recorded Invader ZIM and Teen titans over it. I kind of wish there's a way to bring back recorded over stuff in VHS tapes. I mean I recorded an Angry Beavers episode in November 2000.

I recorded over a copy of The Care Bears Movie with Muppet Babies. I kinda wish I hadn't.

There are a lot of tapes I've lost over the years. -_-

I had to tape over my Married with Children collection a few years ago since there was a new show that I needed tapes for and I didn't have any new tapes at the time. But, no real big loss since most of the episodes were full of static and washed out imagery since my local Fox station at that time didn't get good reception. So, I think I spared one tape of episodes that were of decent quality so not a full total loss but still.

well tv shows are different. there are many ways to get them (re-runs that air on nicktoons network, internet), but very old shows and the very old events that will never air agian, thats sad. i feel your pain.

All this talk about recording things makes me wonder if this has happened to you as many times as it has happened to me, Have you ever recorded something from the tv and then find out later that the tape finished recording before the show ended. That drives me nuts, especially if its a special that will never been shown again.

He's talking about the safety tab. If you break it off, protects tapes from being taped over. Look on the bottom left part of the side (not the one the arrow points to).

Yes, that happened to me once in 2004, when I was record a US basketball game. I had set the timer, but the tape ran out before it recorded the actual game. I was very upset.

I accidentally taped over a program on one of my mom's tapes. She was so angry that she taped over one of my tapes. It happens to me lots of times: I think that a commercial or program is "not retro enough" and I tape over it, and then years later I would want to see the show again and I feel upset that I didn't save the program. There was a tape I used to watch as a kid, but it fell apart and had to be thrown away. I wondered what was on that tape years later.

I had a vhs tape that I had recorded which was full of my favorite mtv videos from the late 80's/early 90's. I was probably about 17 years old and had gone to Oklahoma for the summer to visit my "real" father, when I came back home after the summer to my moms house I found that my stepfather recorded over that tape with some lame show (can't even remember which one) and part of a basketball game.. I was so pissed! Nowadays I can pretty much find any video online that I had recorded on that tape though, so no big thang..

Earlier this month, I sent a letter to GameCentral (the videogames section of Channel 4 analog text/ITV1 digital text) , and my letter came up!
I took a photo of what was on the screen with my camera phone to save the moment, but one day, I noticed my brother had lots of his photos on the camera phone and I asked if he could erase them. He did, but he also erased my Teletext appearence without realising! Damnit!

I used to tape all the WrestleMania's and Saturday Night's Main Event's. . . . . . . the commercials ALONE on the SNME's would be classics! The fact that I taped total crap over them doesn't help me in my therapy sessions, either! LOL

My Mom recorded the "My So-Called Life" episodes when they were on 12 years ago, but then she RECORDED OVER THEM! I was so mad at her when I discovered that, because the DVDs cost so much to buy, and I have always wanted to watch that series!

I had a special called "superman's 50th anniversary" from either 1987 or 1988. Anyway, it had all kinds of vintage superman stuff. The best part was that the concept was that it took place in the superman universe, they even had a "tour of metropolis" hosted by dana carvey. I went to watch it a while ago and i found out that i had accidently taped the last episode of cheers over it.
