Who else was fortunate enough to see this movie when it was re-released in the early 80's? There were stereotypes in the movie that are deemed rascist. As a child i never saw that, however today i could see how it may offend people.Disney will not release it on DVD due to the content.

I've just seen the Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da vid myself. A question: If it's so hated by the NAACP, then why is Splash Mountain still at Disney World?(Let's hope noone from Disney ever visits RJ, or we'll lose one of the best attractions ever thought up by Walt and the gang.)

Yes I went to the movies and seen it when it was re-released in 1986. It was a great movie and I did not see anything racist about it. You can still find it on laser disk and VHS on ebay. I do not know of any DVDs out for it. Too bad such a good movie has to be locked away because of a few insecure rascially motivated people. I do not think we will ever see it re-release again.

The movie has been released and is still available in the European and Asian markets. A few years ago I bought a bootleg DVD on ebay for my girlfriend for Christmas.

As for being released in the USA, there is a possibilty that it might happen soon. Read the Wikipedia article about "Song of the South". Especially the releases and availability section.

I think it came out and was re-realease before I was born so, no I never got to see it but I have read about it.

As a kid you never really catch on to certain stuff because you have no idea of what it means for some people. Some people always claim that if a cartoon or movie is banned or never released it's not a big deal. The thing is, that's easy for you to say because you aren't those people.
