Hi everyone, for years I've been trying to figure out what game I played as a kid. Let me describe it for you:

The board itself was supposed to be an ocean and it had little islands that raised up and little mountains that raised up off the board literally.

There were red ships with sails (pirates?) and black ships with sails. There were cannons that actually shot plastic cannon balls.

Anyone know this game?

I don't know the game, but it sounds really fun. Any game that launches little projectiles has to be fun. (Or aggravating as hell trying to get the right launch angle.)

      Could it be Pirates Cove?

I just checked it, it's not Pirates Cove. Thank you for the suggestion anyways though!

I neglected to mention, the game I'm talking about was most likely a 70's game or maybe even an 80's game.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's not that one. It does look a bit like it though. This one I'm talking about had a bunch of little black ships and a bunch of little red ships and the board was "3-d" in the sense that Fireball Islands board was 3-D.

Oh trust me, this game has driven me insane for years. I can't remember the name of it and I've never actually posted on a message board about this game before. I've always thought I could maybe find it on my own on the web, but to no avail. It's just one of those memories of your childhood that you just know existed but yet there seems to be no trace of it.

I think I remember the board was split into different pieces so it would fit in the box and then you just pushed them together to play. The little ships were about the size of a quarter or silver dollar as I remember it. The "cannon balls" were about the size of marbles and made of a plastic I believe. It's tough, but I thought maybe someone out there would've had this game too...

                      Any other details?

What was the purpose of the game? Any cards or characters you remember? What did the box look like?

Purpose: As far as the purpose of the game, I'm not sure. See, I never actually played it the way it was supposed to be played. I'd line up all the red ships on one side, all the black ships on another side, and then shoot cannon balls and try to knock down as many ships as possible.

I don't remember any characters in the game. The only pieces I remember were small red and black ships, about the size of a quarter or silver dollar, and little cannons and cannon balls. The game board itself was most memorable, it was made of some material, the same material that the Fireball Island board was made out of. And it wasn't flat, there were little "mountains" that rose up off the board. The board was mainly blue to represent the ocean. I think I remember the board broke into a few different pieces so that it could be fit back into the box.

The box? Hmmm...well, it was a bigger box but I don't remember much about it.
