Who has seen both shows? Which show is better? I remember growing up in the 80's, I watched Alvin And The Chipmunks and I liked it. But than in the 90's Nickelodeon aired reruns of the Alvin Show, and I thought so much better than the later verson, I never looked at the 80's Alvin And The Chipmunks again.
I especailly loved Clyde Crasscup, he was so funny.

I haven't seen either in years. I do remember watching The Alvin Show on Nick in the mid '90s. From what I remember, they were both good in there own way.
The Alvin Show, and I'll tell you why:
1: No Chipettes
2: There's actually humor in the original one
3: I hate New Wave music(I just hate all popular music; always have, always will.)
4: A&TC had this sick line in the intro:
"We'll give you action... and satisfaction." Ewww!!!!!!

Heh, I remember when I thought A&TC was the only cartoon with those guys in it long before I first saw The Alvin Show from a Detroit station in '87, it completely changed the way I felt about the 80's update as I enjoyed the original creation for what it had to offer.

Well I like both of them.
I often think the Chipmunks were made a bit more 'human' in the 80's series due to the interaction they had at home or school. I often didn't think of them as being these anthropomorphic characters due to to that fact as I thought of them as any human kid that age. The original series still had that reminder of their species (though who or where they were from was undetermined). Of course the humor in Alvin Show had to rely more on the writing as opposed to the 80's show's use of slapstick or childhood antics as the formula for most episodes.

Me too, that is exactly how I felt when I saw the original version, it changed the way I looked at the 80's version.
I would have to go with the Alvin show as my fav. since i really dug Clyde crashcup and Leonardo

Not sure I remember the Alvin Show.....unless that was the one of less animation quality than Alvin and the Chipmunks which I enjoyed a lot and would like a Best Of DVD released.

Like The Alvin Show much more. Clyde Crashcop (sp?) was funny as heck. I almost missed the school bus a few times because I wanted to watch it all the way through.
I hated how on Alvin and the Chipmunks:
1) People paid money to see talking rodents sing cover songs poorly.
2) No one seem to notice that talking animals were living among them.
3) Girls fell in love with them. WTF??????
4)The government didn't see anything so amazing about talking animals that they didn't swipe these freaks of nature and dissect them. that would have been sweet to watch.

Ive not heard of it anywhere else so i am not sure it would be the case and thats makes me sad since i woudl pre order it right now...

I think they should put it on DVD.
i dont recall watching The Alvin Show, but I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks. If I knew there was an early "version" i would have watched it; I liked Alvin and the Chipmunks and yes, the Chippettes were annoying as hell. :p
