I am quite aware that some of you may have caught on to the recent fact that The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show, to be released on DVD around the summer of 2008, is not entirely what it seems to be. This thread is dedicated to the discussion of any Saturday morning "block" shows (which last one hour or more) that may not be what they seem (remember the mantra don't judge a book by its cover?).

Although the show is officially billed as The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show (which ran under this moniker on ABC Saturday mornings at 8:30 am PST from October 4, 1980 to September 18, 1982), it's actually the reverse of what it seems: Scooby and Scrappy-Doo occupies the first half-hour, and Richie Rich himself occupies the second half-hour. The show may have had its specific intro when new, but the show's credits are played separately (Scooby first and Richie last).

Then we have The Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show which again ran on ABC, from September 25, 1982 to September 3, 1983.

Like The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show before it, this show once again has its cartoon segments out of order (for one: Pac-Man's segment doesn't appear until the last 30 minutes of the block).

Earlier, we had The Godzilla Power Hour which consisted of Godzilla (of course) and Jana of the Jungle, whose segments played separate. This block ran on NBC Saturday mornings from September 9, 1978 to September 1, 1979. The classic 1964 Jonny Quest series was added to this block beginning November 4, 1978 (when Galaxy Goof-Ups, a component show to Yogi's Space Race, was declared as its own series, which ran through January 27, 1979).

Please do not hesitate to follow up on this topic,

Ben (RetroBen81)
