I've been trying to respond for days. My username kept triggering the "Site Is Offline" warning alert. So now I'm back on a Windows PC instead of Linux.

Well Billy, that looks like the phone number from the old multi-marketers ads where you can buy oldies record collections, or jewelry, or novelty items "As Advertised on TV", lol.

You got it Eddie! That phone number appeared on TV (mostly cable) from the late 70s until around 2000. It was apparently the phone number for Turner Broadcasting. While it was common with music, other products and services such as life insurance used that number as well. It wasn't uncommon to see that phone number in more than one commercial on the same commercial block.

There was a promo for an "affordable" jewelry set, where for one low price you would get enough pieces to fill a jewelry box. Of course the last plug went something like - "call now and we'll throw in this beautiful decorator jewelry case for free".

So many different ads for so many different products but I never noticed that the number was the same for all of them. Makes me wonder if the promos for Slim Whitman back in the 70's was using the same phone number for ordering.

I remember all those commercials (well, except the last one) LOL

And before I even watched them, just reading the phone number I could picture the announcer's voice in my head saying it.

That last link is interesting. I remember Bill Tush as one of Ted Turner's leading presenters as WTCG became Superstation WTBS from Atlanta in 1979.

Bill Tush and Jan Hooks were just plain funny when Bill had his own show in 1980.

I'm sure there was a spot for an "affordable" Rolex-type watch, available in fake silver or imitation gold decorated with simulated diamonds.

                  Or maybe I'm just crazy.
