Does anyone remember the cartoon based on the wizard of oz that was on in the late 80's or early 90's era? I looked at "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", but based on the artwork I saw I don't think that either of those are the one I'm thinking of.

All I remember was that it wasn't a cheery, happy cartoon. It was very mysterious and had a dark side to it. Sometimes Dorothy would be totally lost in a place that didn't look like Oz at all, and from what I remember, she spent most of her time with characters other than the usual ones like scarecrow and tin man. Any ideas? :)

I don't remember a cartoon, but I do remember a short lived series with that chick that played a witch in The Craft (the trailer trash witch) That show was kinda dark.

Shadowfax are you talking about the Wizard of Oz cartoon that used to com on HBO or ABC? The one that aired on ABC was really close to the originaly movie. HBO's animated Wizard of Oz was completely different. It was kind of dark.

Feruza(LOL god I dunno if anyone can spell this name right, i'm sure I haven't.) sure is in alot of witch type movies. The Craft and The Worst Witch she played a witch. Then in return to oz mambie was sort of a witch type charactor.

I used to watch a wizard of oz cartoon years and years ago where Dorothy had blonde hair and she actually brought pie with her in her picnic basket to oz somehow LOL. I don't think it's the one your talking about though because in this one it was the normal scarecrow, lion, tin man, etc. I remember the tin man I think stepped on a bug and killed it, he was really upset. I do beleive that the voice of dorothy was Aileen Quin the girl who played "Annie". It was from 1982. I also distinctly remember the wizard showing up as a different type of creature to each a rhino to say the tin man and a different animal to the scarecrow, etc.

That was such a good show! Thanks for the post! :D

Is it possible to get a DVD collection of those episodes?

I remember that show, vaguely. I think I only watched it a few times, since it was on ABC and I always watched CBS :P
