Hi,
What is your favorite "Chariots of Fire" moment? And I am not just referring to the 1981 movie and its title song. I am referring to all the COF spoofs as well.
The 1981 movie Chariots of Fire was based on a true story of English athletes preparing for and competing in the 1924 Olympics.
The song "Chariots of Fire," also known as "Titles" and "Chariots of Fire - Titles," was an instrumental song penned by Greek musician Vangelis.
The "slow runner" scene from COF had been spoofed many times, with the song being used to top off the joke. List of movies and ads with this spoof that are set to the COF theme:
*Mr. Mom (1983) - Scene: Jack Butler competes in a company-backed decathlon, seen in slow-mo.
*National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) - Scene: Clark and Rusty Griswold are seen running through the Wally World parking lot (in slow-mo).
*During the 1984 Summer Olympics, an AmEx credit card commercial included Ben Cross and Jackson Scholz. Cross says to Scholz: "You never beat me!" Proving he is "still pretty fast," an undeterred Scholz then beats Cross to the finish in picking up the tab with his credit card.
*Bruce Almighty (2003) - Scene: Bruce Nolan is covering a news story on Buffalo's Biggest Cookie. He tells the camera to "cue the cheesy inspirational music," to which the movie enters a slow-mo take of Bruce attempting to throw milk into a line of children's cups, but failed miserably drenching the cups into the milk.
Have any of you ever done any of your own COF moments (where in you cut your own videos spoofing the slow-runner scene) and play them in slow-mo with the COF theme dubbed over?
~Ben
