Movie reviews: yes. Here are some examples:

One thing I will say as a reader: don't just give a summary of the movie. Write substantially in critique mode, give some background info, make it personal, talk about why the movie is unique, something(s) like that.
New movie reviews: risky. It's certainly allowed, as in you won't be banned for it or anything like that. But if you don't make a strong case as to why you're writing it here, you might get a lot of downvotes and negative comments. I would suggest using such a subject as a backdrop to your nostalgia and not the other way around. For instance, you could start talking about a movie as the introduction and use a few reference points to launch aspects of your personal story. If you review a new movie for three paragraphs and throw in a few sentences at the end about your youth, it probably wouldn't do very well.
