Let's talk cheap!

Within a grocery store, what are some cheap foods?

I have 2:

Ramen Noodles: 12 packets for $1.40, now that's cheap!

Bologna package: $1.50
Processed Cheese Singles: $2
White bread loaf:$2
Complementary Mayo Packets near the salad bar: free

Combine all these together, and you have yourself sandwiches for days on end for just $5.50!

    I love Ramen Noodles!

Those Lipton rice and pasta sides are only $1...they're pretty good, too!

Generic brand tinned pasta goes for between 89 and 99 cents. You can get soup cheap that way too.

Rice-A-Roni four cheese flavor. All you need is water and butter to make it. It has a GREAT flavor and when my husband is gone and I don't make large dinners for the kids and myself, a box lasts for lunch and dinner. The kids eat mac and cheese or spaghettio's on those days. Both of those are cheap too.

        four cheese rice = $1
        mac and cheese = $1
spaghettios= $1 (off brand usually is less)

I get the "day old" bagel slices from "Stop n' Shop" and freeze them....$1:50 for THOUSANDS of them. Then, I take desired amounts out, toast them with cheese, or butter...YUM! ANd they last forever. Or, make a lovely spinach dip.

I recommend Uncle Ben's fast cooking rice, there's a fast boiling kind and a microwave kind, both taste great, come in a few varities and are under three dollars.

Are they in my frozen foods section?

I have another one: stove top stuffing sandwiches. If you buy the generic brand, its like $2 for about a gallon of stuffing. You slap some mayo on some bread, a little pepper, then generous amount of stuffing... you got yourself a stuffing sandwich.

You can make about 10 stuffing sandwiches for $3

Something cheap that I like to make is bbq. 1 lb of ground beef and a package of hamburger buns. Brown groundbeef add ketchup and mustard to taste, slap it on a bun and yur good to go. Makes about 6-8.

                              That's like a sloppy joe.

I've been doing this new thing lately.

                              Take one large tupperware container.

Put in lettuce, spinach (raw), onions, tomatoes, shredded mexican cheese, and dressing (I prefer vinegrette).

                              Place container, shake liberally.

Top with brown rice, black beans, salsa, and sour cream.

The result is a satisfying, yet healthy vegetarian taco salad of sorts.

This weekend for 65 cents I got an Italian bun, it was a really good value, it was pretty big size. I sliced it up and used it like a minature loaf of bread.

It might have been a day old but what the hell, I used it for lunch yesterday and today. I put some Pillers Beerwurst on it (great tasting lunch meat, not too bad for you and costs under three dollars) and Cracker Barrel cheese I saved a dollar on using a coupon.
