I never heard of them.
I tried them about three years ago, didn't like it. About all they put on my sandwich was just a bunch of lettuce and really thin meat.
I'm not saying they're the best subs on the planet, but I find them to be sufficiently tasty. And since they don't give you a choice of toppings, the line isn't held up by inconsiderate and indecisive customers who take forever to figure out what they want on their sandwich--like at Subway.
Jimmy John's is OK. Their sandwiches are smaller than Subway for the same price and then they charge extra for cheese. The bread, lettuce, and tomatoes seem to be better quality. Although they definitely don't deserve the "gourmet" designation they bestow upon themselves.
They also seem to be friendlier than Subway. They're both franchises so that seems like it is completely anecdotal, but maybe the price vs quality aspects attract different kinds of people.

They're ok I guess. I prefer Subway and Blimpie's though.
They are opening up locations in my area. I'll wait when a more local location opens.
I heard they suck. Overpriced and small. I have no desire to meet this jimmy john.
They make a good veggie sandwich.
If someone says they're inferior because the sandwich is smaller, that person is judging by the wrong criteria. Jimmy Johns tastes better than Subway, if you like simple deli meat style sandwiches. The bread is fresher, they are made quicker and by friendlier employees and I have yet to have a bad experience.

I saw a non-compete mentioned in one of their job ads recently. Well I guess I won't be applying to one of those places anytime soon.

Their OK. Don't like the idea that you have to take them home and heat them up. I don't like cold sandwiches.
I'm not a huge fan of the bread Jimmy John's uses.
