Well, if you haven't heard, Conan O' Brien will most likely be leaving "The Tonight Show" due to a couple of reasons:

1.) The Jay Leno Show has been canceled due to low ratings (pressure from local affiliates as well)

2.) Because of the canceling, NBC wants to move Jay's show from 10:00pm (est) to 11:35pm, which would set a domino effect moving Conan's show to 12:05am (Jay was promised a half-hour show), and Jimmy Fallon's show to 1:05am.

3.) Conan has rejected this offer, due to the fact that, in a nutshell, it isn't really the Tonight Show if it airs at 12:05am now, is it?

I applaud Conan for his decision. Now, since I'm supposed to be objective in that I'm reporting this story, I will say this: Screw Leno, and screw NBC. I have a lot to say about this, but first I want to know what you all think...DISCUSS!!!

Oh, and here's a link to a video explaining it all in case you don't want to read...:

    I like Conan.

He has had many adventures with Wilt Chamberlain.

I've seen both movies, so I know this to be true.

Apparently Jay Leno is against NBC now as well. He has a lot of respect for Conan and knows how dumb NBC is being about it.

NBC is going downhill that's all there is to it. That whole Must See TV shit is dead and has been for over a decade. Conan was the best thing to happen to NBC's late night lineup. Let's not forget that even when the legendary Johnny Carson was in the stages of ending his career at the Tonight Show, there was a surge of viewers watching Arsenio Hall. That notwithstanding Carson was even dismayed that NBC chose Leno as his successor over Letterman.

I hope Conan sues those bastards for doing this bullshit, because they deserve it. I don't see why the network would essentially promote Leno for failing in his show instead of just getting rid of him altogether. Leno is a damn ego maniac who must think that he is some sort of late night genius, when this whole prime time experiment proves that he isn't at all.

...They haven't announced anything, though I'm thinking Crime Drama.

NBC has been spiraling out of control for a while now...Here are some alternate promotional campaign ideas...Some of which I've found on the web, while one or two I came up with on my own.

                -"NBC...Please watch us now!"

                -"NBC there...Be There...Pretty please?"

-"NBC...Let's all be there...Emphasis on ALL. Don't tell us you think FOX is better?"

-"Come on home to NBC...Not ABC, Not CBS...NBC. Got it, people?"

-"Come home to the best...Only on NBC...Yes, this is the best...At least we were in the last decade and a half of the 20th century".

                ---

My impressions of frustrated NBC marketing people...Thank you very much. Tip your waiters and try the veal...

NBC are fools to think Jay Leno and his big chin is funnier than Conan and his crazy hair.

They never said that Leno was funnier. The only reason that his new show flopped is that it was in no way like when he was on the Tonight Show. They need to just give the Tonight Show back to Leno, give Conan his show back, and just kick Jimmy Fallon out for good. He's not funny. And Carson Daily. Kick him out and expand both Conan and Leno to an hour and a half.

Conan has always been my favorite Late Night host and I stand by him. Leno was always my 3rd favorite after Conan and Letterman but then Jimmy Fallon came along and bumped Leno into the #4 spot. I think Leno should just back down, he's had his chance, now it's time to let Conan get his.

Leno doesn't want to do the change either. If NBC does cancel the show, then Jay will most likely leave NBC and NBC doesn't want him to leave. This entire fiasco is all NBC's fault, not Jay's.

This is what happens when you try to fix something that isn't broken. Conan was just fine where he was, and so was Leno. Now NBC has a mess on their hands, and they will most likely loose Conan to a rival network.

And I like Conan better than Leno. Conan O'Brien is really the only late night guy I ever watch.

I think a lot of this could have been avoided if they had just let Leno go when it was Conan's time like they did with Carson when it was Leno's time.

I seem to recall Conan having a 40+ million dollar buy out in his contract if he did not receieve The Tonight Show. Could still be in play, or he could have a similar clause or pay out if NBC is altering the contract.

Why doesn't Conan show some loyalty to NBC? They have been paying him millions per year for the last 20 years right?. He averages 2 1/2 million viewers while Leno used to average 5 million. So essentially in that time slot Conan FAILED. What is the big deal in being pushed back a half hour. He will still have the tonight show and the millions in his contract while failing. You can't beat that. if Fox offers a contract and he moves there he will get an ass kicking from Leno and Letterman. If he is only averaging 2 1/2 million viewers on NBC it will be less on Fox because they have less affiliates.

NBC *promised* they'd give Conan as much time as needed to find his audience. Then NBC pulls a dick move like this. Fuck NBC.

I personally like both Leno and Conan. Don't like Jimmy Fallon's show, though. Anywho, both feel it's stupid to have Leno's show moved to 11:35 and Conan's at 12:05. I hope Conan sticks to his guns.

I thought Leno's show was contracted for a year? And I don't really see Leno as an "ego maniac", for the most part, since he's against what NBC is doing and even applauding Conan. IMO, an ego maniac wouldn't be applauding the competition, instead, he would be like, "Yeah! NBC should have me on at 11:35 because I'm Leno!" He equally feels NBC is being stupid and that moving him to 11:35 would be a stupid move. As I pointed out. He's with Conan on this and feels the same way. That's not an ego maniac.

The whole problem is whether you like Conan or Leno is that they have contracts. NBC promoted that Conan was going to take over as the new Tonight Show host like 3 years ago, and then at the very last minute decided to create another show for Leno in order not to lose him. If Leno's contract was up then he should have just retired the way Johnny Carson did, or NBC should've just renewed his contract.

When Leno's 10pm show failed, instead of NBC again cancelling it, they are trying to cater to Leno yet again by putting his show on at 11:30 and knocking all the other shows back! And by not calling Leno's show "The Tonight Show" which essentially, it is...they are going through a loophole to give Leno is same time slot back while not technically breaking Conan's contract.

I don't particularly care for Conan, but NBC and Leno are slick....and yes Leno has a part in it also! He didn't really want to retire at all. NBC just didn't want to pay him for another 10yrs or whatever but they still wanted to keep him and instead of just leaving, he accepted the deal for that primetime fiasco. It's not fair that everyone else has to suffer. If anybody else's show failed, NBC would cancel it..no matter who was hosting it.
