Jimmy Carter, 39th president of the United States, has died at age 100, after almost two years spent in hospice care. Graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1946, he took over the operations of his family's peanut farm. He would begin his political career as a senator from the state of Georgia in 1963. In 1971 he would serve one term as the Governor of Georgia. In 1976 he successfully ran for Prsident of the United States defeating incumbent Gerald Ford. His Presidency would be marred by several economic issues as well as an inability to solve the Iran Hostage Crisis. He would become the first President to lose his second term election to Ronald Reagan. He became a Humanitarian following his Presidncy forming groups including the Habitat for Humanity.
