Which of your Tv shows ever jumed the shark and when did it?

For me Scooby doo went downhill when it was just Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy and the ghost were real.

Simpsons is sometimes good and sometimes bad as off late when they come up with stupid plots such as episodes with "The way we weren't"

I think introducing Scrappy to the show was their 'Jump the Shark' moment...

For those of you reading this forum that doesn't know what jumping the shark is I will do a short definition/history lesson LOL

The term came from the show "Happy Days". In one of their later seasons... the group went to the beach( and wore extremely short short Blegghh!!) Anywayz... someone dared Fonzie to jump a portion of sectioned water on water skis that contained a shark. Well that episode marked the day that "Happy Days" ratings started plumoting and eventually led to it's end....therefore, episodes of television shows that are responsible for that shows destruction, is nick named "jumping the shark"

As much as I hate to admit it, Thundercats jumped the shark the day New Thundera was done. When they left third earth, you knew it was over. However, unlike most shows of the 80's, Thundercats *DID* have a legit ending where they wrapped everything up. Got rid of Mumm-Ra, sealed away the Sword of Omens to keep New Thundera whole, all that rot.

So actually, I'll change that to Never Jumped, although it had a "it went downhill here" moment when they moved back to New Thundera and built the new Cat's Lair.

I agree with the Simpsons jumping the shark. I still watch it, but its just the past few seasons havent been memorable at all. The episodes are just, different. I cant pinpoint the episode or year but once the animation changed to a much clearer and brighter color (last 3-4 years) it hasnt been very good.

            Scooby-Doo: Definitely Scrappy. Good god.

                X-Files : After the movie.
Thundercats : The introduction of the Lunatics did it for me.
The Wonder Years : When Paul grows some balls.
Laverne and Shirley : Moving out of Milwaukee to LA!
                90210 : HS graduation. WTF!?
Three's Company : WHen Chrissy leaves.

Can't think of many more right now.

Good call on Laverne & Shirley. Great show right up until they moved the cast out of Milwaukee. What a terrible idea!

And in my opinion, Three's Company never jumped the shark.

                  Here are some more:
All In The Family: Edith dies.
                  Rosanne: They win the lottery.
                  Alf: New baby.
Married With Children: Seven (although most of the episodes were good, but the quality dropped off dramatically after this little stunt).
                  Night Court: The final episode.

The final season of the Xfiles has an episode in which the Lone Gunman die. This episode is actually titled "Jump the Shark".

However, I agree with Ray that the movie is where the series began its downfall.

                                  Edith died  ?
and yes I agree on the Rosanne winning the lottery. Didn't the season finale said that Dan had died and she was writing a book so she changed some stuff? It was pretty bad.

As for the X-files, I thought it was more interesting when it seemed that there were no aliens, that the abductions were actually performed by world governments fiddling around with DNA. I thought it was a more believable idea.

but then it went back to the Alien thing and the invasion etc. and it was just too annoying and dissapionting for me.

I 100% disagree, that was only in the fifth or sixth season and the Simpsons has had extremely hilarious episodes since then, in fact I think some of the funniest episodes. The Simpsons didn't "jump the shark" until Maude Flanders died, not that she's the reason it went down hill, that just, to me, seems the point where it started to die.
