Donkey Kong is "lame." Tetris is "boring." Space Invaders "needs a superbomb or something." And why play Pong when it's more fun to "jump up and down on one foot"? Hey, save your irate letters--we didn't say this stuff. The nostalgia-nuking commentary is from EGM's November 2003 issue, in which we had kids of the PlayStation generation playtest classic games from the '70s and '80s. Mortified gaming grown-ups wrote in to call it blasphemy--and call these outspoken scamps a name that rhymes with "brittle truckers."

This makes me feel really sad after reading it. I’m glad that my younger brother has respect and actually likes playing classic games through emulation.

I love video games, I really do. But it's the old games that I always seem to go back to.

I just prefer the 8 and 16 bit games over what they have now and I'm not sure why.

I am nothing but a retro gamer yes i have the new systems and everythign but i find myself spending more money on keeping my Nes working and getting new games for it then on new system games. A rough number of Nes Snes games i own would be around 400. Long Live The NES

most kids of today dont know much about gaming they just wanna run around and press buttons. I have all the new systems too and still feel that the old NES games beat the new games in fun and gameplay. the kids of today can keep their superbombs and graphics, I'll stick to my NES and SNES systems.

The writers of that article admitted they made up a lot of the stuff (sometimes the kids are just too witty), but they did say that it was based on a lot of reactions they've seen to older games.

Yeah, I was suspicious of the authenticity of what those kids were saying. They're like a cohort of tiny Seth Cohens, with all their off the cuff ironic statements and pop culture references.
