Getting a ball 'back and front and score' is pretty much the objective of 90% of sports.

Which is why I never understood sports, its just a bunch of guys playing with balls. There's no plot, no interesting characters, no witty quotes, no romance, no humor, and nobody dies. What's the big deal?

            People have died in sports.

There is a lot of contreversies.

There can be a plot and inner rivalries.

Interesting Characters - T.O. for example

Witty Quotes - There are more witty quotes from athletes than any other groups of people. (You want comedic, look at someone like Ralph Uecker)

Romance- You got the same as actors. Kris Benson's wife = HOT.

Humor - Sports fans don't watch it for humor

            Contreversies - O SO MANY

So many other aspects I can't even list.

Personally, I don't understand how they gert paid so much, but the teams make the money so they pay the players that damn much. Cause heck, the owners shouldn't make too much. Then again I miss when people got feasable paychecks lik eback in 1994, still a lot, but not like 10 a year wasn't that big of a deal which is what it at right now (look at Richie Sexson).

If you don't "get" sports, there's no way anyone can explain it to you. Just like I don't "get" WWE, and I look at people weird when they try and tell me why they like it.

I was also a chubby kid who couldn't run very fast and was always picked last at kickball, so I probably have some childhood issues

I live in a big soccer community. In fact, we didn't even start a football team til about 5 years ago. I was never that interested in it. I did play field hockey for a short time, though.

I love how we totally abondoned the topic, we're supposed to be talking about the World Cup of '94 and '98, people :P

After the absolute delirium of Euro 96', we were far too worked up for 98'.

Best tournament for me ever. Partly, the company, partly the calm before starting Uni, partly working part time, partly THAT feeling of standing with a pint in hand in the sunshine before all going inside the pub thinking something amazing is about to start on the TV. That Michael Owen goal, the Shearer and Scholes goals against Tunisia, Beckham's free kick against Columbia.

This is what nostagia is about. I've completely coloured over any cracks and made that the best summer of my life....

I love soccer, it's probably my favorite "ball" sport. But I don't watch sports much. Heck the only time I watch any sport is when I know someone on the team or I have bet on one of them. :? Watching sports isn't that interesting to me, I'd much rather play them.

But the world cups on the other hand I did watch from time to time. Watching the USA girls team win again was really fun to watch ^^ And no, I haven't seen the '94 or '98 cups, but I thought I'd add to the thread at least.

Personally I have never been a fan of foreign futbol.

Matt Nash, I too used to be a fat kid who no one wanted to play sports with. (I didn't even get picked for sports, they simply excluded me, once since a couple of people were out I had to get picked. Or so I thoguht. A ladder got picked over me. I mean in a game of basketball, how does a ladder get chosen over you. Pothetically, it actually had a decent game.

I didn't really get into sports until more recently. Though after attending a lot of Knicks, Jets and Mets games, I became a fan of their respeted sports. Not really a huge fan of hockey, foreign futbol or others. (I was huge on card games and I think they thing that really started me liking sports may have ben MLB Showdown or something).

Then again I think meeting Kenny Lofton was the big thing that made me like it. Well, ever since then, I can't play baseball for shit, basketball, I'm like an on the court coach and can't hit a shot for shit, but football I'm good at. Just can never get a pick up game.

(I know, I'm just babbling on about myself but it's like a first post for me so if people want to know me better, it can start here)
