It's going to be nice to see the ships redone with modern technology. A lot of the hardcore fans are bitching, but Mr. Rodenberry was a firm believer in making things better through technology. I think he would approve.

cool i hhope it plays in 16 x 9 format in 720p or 1080i on s oem hd station! thatll look real purta, or else on standrad def channel itll look just grainy as usual

This remaster has been a long time coming. Finally, the ships and special effects are going to match closely with the rest of the modern Trek shows. Next Paramount should remaster some of the earlier seasons of Next Generation. Some of the early effects weren't very good. There are some scenes in the early episodes where you know for a fact that Data isn't being played by Spiner. In fight scenes Data always has a different face which should be fixed up.
TOS remastered starts this weekend in my area. :D

Yup, its why the first season of just about any trek series is considered "quasi-canon". As in, its canon as long as its not something that changed for the better later on. Like the early episodes of TOS referring to "lithium crystals" in the warp drive, instead of dilithium.
