I'm in my Web Design class right now and we just discovered a Youtube video sharing rival that will be made by Microsoft called soapbox. I don't know...personally I think that Microsoft's getting greedy all of a sudden. First they are trying to compete with the ipod now this whole soap box thing. What do you think?

I don`t think Microsoft Will Have a Change for SoapBox over Youtube I think Youtube is all more better.

YouTube is the best video site out on the net. I am annoyed by the large number of pointless videos on that site though like people filming everyday activites and think it's cool. The music videos on the site are a must watch, they have every artist on there that you can think of especially 80's music.

I agree.. I have made some mp3's off some 80's videos from Youtube.. Stuff that I never thought I would find too.

How do you capture mp3s of something. Do you need a certain program?
Actually it is a program that someone here alerted me about. You capture the video as a .flv, then there is a converter that can convert the files to flash, wma, mp3, mp4 files.
how I do it:
1. download the Audacity program
2. Download the LAME mp3 encoder (that's the real name, no joke, search through the audacity docs for more info)
3. install audacity+LAME encoder
4. open flash video and let it play through once all the way (this allows it to download completely)
5. open audacity and set it to record
6. restart your video
7. when the video stops, press the stop button in audacity
8. remove any dead air noise (anything that looks like this: --------) before and after the audio if needed
9. tell it to encode as mp3
10. save
11. profit!!

WOW that is complicated.. The programs I use are so much easier..
Oh, I forgot to mention: set the input audio to either mono or stereo mixer (should be done in audacity)
