When I was 13, I saw this made-for-TV movie about an 18 year old high school senior who was severely depressed that he had contemplated suicide. What upsets me about the film is that the producers never got to the heart of his depression. I saw this in a class one time in eighth grade.
I forget the name of the movie, but the boy's name was Jimmy. One of the most poignant moments is when he gives his little brother his jacket as a way to say “I Love You”. I vaguely remember the suicide scene where he's sitting on the edge of his bed holding a gun in one hand and slowly raising it to his head, and pulling the trigger.
This was when I really learned about suicide and the dark side of life. Thankfully, I've never commit suicide or even attempted suicide. I was young and didn't really have an understanding about depression and anxiety. This film was really traumatic for me to watch and the suicide scene was the most graphic I've ever seen on TV or in a movie.
