Did anyone ever watch these? There was another one like this but I can't remember the name right. It was like ROV or ARVO or something like that. I didn't have cable (MTV) in my early to mid teens so this is how I got to see my rock videos. But the thing was they came out on snowy fuzzy channels so I had to build a monster Antana to watch them and some nights I didn't even get to watch. They came on anywhere from 12am to 2 or 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Anyone remember them?

Do you mean Are-Oh-Vee? I used to watch that show faithfully every Saturday night at 1am and tape videos from it all the time. We could only get it through a satellite network called N1. (I know I started a thread about the network somewhere, so run a search for it and you should find it.) I remember they devoted one episode to a live Radiohead performance during their tour to promote The Bends-- awesomeness. They have a Myspace profile here. I seem to recall mention of it coming back, but I think only in California. :(

We didn't get MTV in my hometown, either, from around 1986 to 1998-- the guy who ran the cable company got religion and decided MTV was of the devil-- so this and Bohemia Afterdark, another N1 program, were my primary source of videos back in high school.

YEAH!! Areo Oh Vee!!! :) and WHAT?!!! I missed the Radiohead one (makes verry VERRY sad face)? Hey do you remember the video with the chicken dancing around with an anarchy t-shirt on? The artist was Cibo Moto (or Motto). And the song went "I know my chicken, you've got to know your chicken". I learned of lots of cool bands from that show, my favorite being Snake River Conspiracy. But yeah I loved that show the most.

I don't remember that video, but I definitely remember the band Cibo Matto. They used to get a lot of play on my college's radio station. ("Cibo Matto 1999!" Crikey, that was seven years ago! I'm getting old.)

I remember seeing this video, this video, and this video on Are-Oh-Vee, among many many others. They showed a lot of Rocket from the Crypt, Lush, and Superchunk videos which I also really liked. Every now and again, they'd whip out something really random, like an old black and white clip of Les Paul and Mary Ford doing "How High The Moon" or an old Elvis clip. I liked that, it broke things up a bit.

YouTube has a bunch of old skits from Are-Oh-Vee from in between videos. Here's one of them, with "Matt KoRnfield" (not making fun of any real VJs, were they?). I believe I may have actually taped part of this episode when they first aired it on N1, although I'd have to dig through my parents' basement to find it again. :)

          OMG!!!!!!

I love all those shows. I'm such a nerd I made an Are-oh-vee my space group. I have a few tapes of Are-oh-vee and Punk-o-rama circa 98-01. I use to try and tape Notes from the underground, but I didn't get the channel really well.

Does anybody remember Barby Brady? She hosted movies, sort of a low budget Elvira.
