It's all this "flashback to the Betamax vs. VHS battle".

Yes they both support 1080p now, but one HD DVD player by its inventor Toshiba, had so many glitches, that it had to return.

No matter how good a manufacturer is, there is almost always a possibility that one product may have a problem, just return it and get a refund.

I sell both of these units and I have to say,I was not impressed by either one. The HDDVD, at least the first version, the hda1, had tone of glitches.
Are you ready for a report card????

I don't care about HD DVD or Blu-Ray because I don't even have a freaking HDTV yet...

As long as I can see the movie, I could care less if it's in high definition. My father obsesses over things like that...We recently got HDTV and now he'll switch between channels every time we're watching something to show us the difference.......

Dad: What are you watching? Look how grainy that is.
        Me: I don't see anything.
Dad: *taking remote* Let me show you how much better it looks in hi-def.
Me: No, come on, I'm in the middle of--
Dad: *flips channel* See? This is the same program, but look at it. So CLEAR! Can you see the wrinkles on that woman's face? You can practically FEEL the fabric on her shirt.
Me: *Sigh* Yes, I can see.
Dad: That's how it's supposed to look.
        Me: ...Yep.

Lol, sorry, but it's not really something I get stoked about.

I'd like to own anything HD, but I just can't justify that kind of purchase. Also, I barely have enough money for gas as it is.

            Blu-Ray is too frickin' expensive!

I could care less about HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. I'm perfectly happy with my current dvd player. The only way you'd get me to buy a HDDVD player is if it were backwards compatible with standard dvds. I'm not about to start building my collection up all over again just because some ignorant fools can't be satisfied with the current format.

I could care less which one wins, but in the end both formats just might lose.

Im going to wait to see which one wins myself. Aside from those small petty tech specs, the main differences between Blu-ray and HD DVD is Blu-ray can hold 5x more space then HD DVD, and HD DVD is region free (meaing a HD DVD made in the US can play ANYWHERE in the world) while Blu-ray has a Region code where it only plays in certain parts of the world just like the ol DVD (though it only has 3, where as DVD has 6).

I have too many DVDs to want to upgrade. Not to mention it will take more then a decade for either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD to catch up to the number of movie and show titles that are on DVD...and many titles may never make it to either of the formats.

Also, my DVD player has HDMI and can upconvert to HD. I don't have an HD TV set right now, but if I ever get one...then I can still use my current DVD player.
