    *knock on wood*

There are rated T and M for a reason!! That means kids under those ages shouldn't be playing them!! Especially if they are M!! Some T rated games are alright...

But when parents bitch about their GTA or Resident Evil or something, it pisses me off. You're the fucking parent. Don't buy your kid the game, so your kid won't be exposed to that kind of material in the game. That's like, if you want your kid to be Christian, don't send him/her to a Buddist camp and complain about it.
It's common sense. Something a majority of "parents" lack nowadays.

It depends on the parent if a kid should play T or M rated games. If the parent says it's alright that parent is responsible. My parents wouldn't let me play Final Fantasy at first but when they looked at it and researched it they let me play. With the internet, it should be easy to find out about a game and if they should let their kid get the game but there are too many lazy parents who shift blame on everyone else.

Yeah, it IS the parents job to make sure their kid is playing the right game. It's just like the cereal thing when they complained it was making their kid fat. DON'T BUY IT THEN. (I found that way funny when I found out about that cereal thing...XD)

Anyway, I think younger kids shouldn't be playing T or M rated games. But there is one game rated T, and I think it shouldn't be. Super Smash Bros. Melee. No blood, no swearing, why should it be rated T?

I think that if there is some question of the rating they always go up one rating. That's probably why there's a E10 rating now.

Plain and simple, ratings are anything but accurate these days.

Well I played T and M rated games when I was young and it never bothered my mom, oh wait that's right, I was a bit mature for my age (still am) so I guess I don't count but if parents don't want their children playing mature games, don't buy it for them because the kid can't purchase it by himself.

                  Yeah, they should.

                  1. Just because a person is certain age doesn't mean that they'll be scared or try to do what characters in video games do.
                  2. Anyone who thinks that they need to hide things from kids in order to make them not do something negative doesn't need to have kids.
                  3. A person has no business telling a kid that they can't play just because they assume it'll have a negative effect on them.

What's so sensible about companies guessing what a kid will do?

It all depends if they're mature enough to handle it.

GTA is not for kids. ManHunt is not for kids. Gears of War is not for kids.
Companies shouldn't have to alter their games just because a few parents complained about it being too violent for their kids.

If kids not playing M Rated games makes parents shut up, I'm all for it

And why are they not for kids? Why is it okay for an adult (Who can hijack a car and buy a gun a lot easier than a kid can) to play, but if a kid plays it, people assume that he/she "has" to imitate what they see?

You're a teen, right? Doesn't it offend you when adults say that kids and teens shouldn't do certain things because of stereotypical reasons?

That's the only reason you think kids shouldn't play T and M games?

                                    YES!!!!! YES IT IS!!!!!!!!

okay, so i don't have a better arguement...

I just wouldn't want my kids watching certain R rated movies, and the same thing applies with playing M Rated games.
Some T games are alright, but M games? No way.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head with that post

then again, those games are rated "T" and "M" for a reason...
